GROUP THERAPY

THERAPY NAME: Tangram puzzle


THEME: Formulation of shapes

Objectives:

 To help patient to develop cognitive thinking skills


 To encourage patient to motivate level of understanding through their actions
 To assist the patient to overcome from their problem by means of making
leisure time activity.

Learning objectives:

 Upon completion of the activity, the patient should able to enhance their
capability of understanding.

Definition:

 The tangram (Chinese literally: "seven boards of skill") is a dissection


puzzle consisting of seven flat shapes, called tans, which are put together
to form shapes.

MECHANICS

MATERIALS:

 a piece of shapes which cut into seven parts


 Another piece of shapes that same sides from the shape has been cut.

INSTRUCTIONS:

 The student nurse should distribute the dissect puzzle to the participant.
 The student nurse should instruct the participant to form the shapes
copied from original forms.
 The student nurse will declare the winner who first to form the shape.

Art Therapy

THERAPY NAME: Create a Family Sculpture

THEME: “Build your Family”

Objectives:

 To help patients access their own natural ability to heal and grow
 To express feelings
 To let the patients forget about their illness for a while, allowing them to focus on
positive life experiences with the family
 To increase self-awareness
 To encourage emotional growth

Learning Objectives:

 Upon completion of the activity, the patients will be able to make clay representations
of each family member to explore emotional dynamics and roles within your family.

MECHANICS:

Materials:

 clays
 tables

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Each patient will be given clay/s.


2. The student nurses will instruct and encourage the patients to make a clay
representation of each family member – mother, father, siblings, and other close or
influential family members.
3. Each assigned student nurses will assist his or her patient. At the same time, the
student nurses will elicit pertinent data regarding the emotional state of the patient and
assess the patients for emotional distress, problems with or within his or her family.
4. The activity facilitator/s will pick any patient who volunteered to express or share about
his or her.

DEFYING GRAVITY

Objectives:

 lessen stress, disease prevention, and mood management


 increased muscular strength, coordination, mobility, and decreased muscular tension
 promotes self-awareness, self-esteem, and a safe space for the expression of feelings

Materials

• 3 Inflated Balloons (per person)

Instructions

1) When the clock starts, player releases all 3 balloons into the air.

2) Player may not hold balloons, allow them to rest on the body, or hit the ground, or the game
is over.

3) To complete the game, player must keep all balloons off the ground for 60 seconds.

Bonus Tips

1. It often helps to let the participants have a quick test run on throwing the balloons up. This
just ensures that the game isn’t over in five seconds.

2. Choose contestants that are somewhat athletic and coordinated, otherwise the game won’t
last long.

3. This is a great game to pit teams against each other, that way you can at least declare a
winner based on time if neither team succeeds.

4. Make sure you have a large enough area for the participants to play. Make sure to remove
any dangerous areas or items.

GROUP THERAPY

THERAPY NAME: “Yank Me”

THEME: “Try & Try until you Succeed”

Objective:

 To help client enhance his or her decision making.


 To help client able to focus on certain task.
 By use this task the client able to enhance his critical thinking technique to complete
the task.

Learning Objective:

 Upon completion of the activity, the patients should be able to be competitive and has
prolonged patience while completing task and feel satisfactory if he or she completed
the task.

MECHANICS

Material:

 5 plastic cups
 4 index card
 table

Instruction:

1. To begin, the player stands at the table facing the drinking cups and the cards.
2. Start the timer.
3. The player then begins to build the tower.
4. Start with one plastic drinking up, face down, and top that with an index card.
5. Place another cup, then another card, and so on until all five drinking cups and all four
index cards are in place.
6. Once the tower is complete, the player begins to remove the index cards.
7. Starting with the top card, pull it straight out so that the cup on top falls straight down
and stacks itself onto the cup below.
8. Then move on to the next index card and do the same thing.
9. Continue on until the entire index cards have been pulled out, leaving the five cups
stacked on top of one another in a single, straight stack.
10. The official rules for this game are a little sparse, but here they are.
11. If the tower falls, the player must start over with the stacking of the tower as long as
there is sufficient time remaining
12. Once the cups and index cards have been stacked, the player may only touch the
index cards. You may not hold any of the plastic cups while pulling out the cards.
13. Complete the challenge before your entire opponent will finish the game.

Play Therapy

THERAPY NAME: “Mega Bubble"

THEME: “Blow me Up"

Objective:

 To help the patient enhanced their motor skills through game.

 To assess patient his or her behaviour if how they cope up if they are competing with
other clients.

Learning Objectives:

 Upon completion of the activity, the patient should be able to cope up their
impatient behaviour during the game.

Mechanics
Material:
 One bottle solution with a bubble wand

 Hula hoop

Instruction:
1. The player begins standing behind the foul line.

2. When the timer starts, pick up the bubble wand and dip it into the solution then blow
some bubbles towards the hoop.

3. Pick one bubble and quickly go to it, then blow it across the playing area and through
the hoop.

4. If you fail you can go back and blow more bubbles and keep trying, until you make it
pass the bubbles towards the hoop

The rules for Mega Bubble are as follows:


1. You cannot touch the bubbles at all, even with the bubble wand.

2. If a bubble bursts while traveling through the hoop it does not count - it must actually
go through the hoop and be seen on the other side.
3. You may not touch the hoop itself.

4. If a player must return to the beginning and start again, he or she must be standing
behind the foul line to blow the next set of bubbles.

PLAY THERAPY

THERAPY NAME: “Balloon Volleyball”


THEME: “Catch Me before I fall”

Objective:

 To help patients access their own natural ability to heal and grow
 Todivert their attention from a problematic situation to enjoyment
 To encourage patients to show their techniques in catching a ball

Learning Objective:

 Upon completion of the activity, the patients should be able to build cooperation with
the team

Materials

 Balloons
 String up a net (with rope or a long bedsheet)

INSTRUCTIONS:

 Unlike regular volleyball, using a balloon means you can play indoors without risk to
furniture (or people). You can also play by sitting on the floor.
 String up a net (with rope or a long bedsheet), and divide into two equal teams.
 Start the game, by instructing the first team with the balloon to hit it across the net to
the next team. The other team then hits it back
 If a team fails to hit the balloon, or the balloon hits the floor – the opposite team
scores a point
 Set a time limit for each round.
 The team with the highest score in a given series of rounds wins.

Objective:

Learning Objective:

 Upon completion of the activity, the patients will be able to answer all the questions
asked by the student nurses.

MECHANICS:

Materials: chairs, ball, music player

INSTRUCTION:

1. The patients will be designated on the chairs that are shaped in circle, and
will be asked to sit comfortably.
2. The ball will be given to patient, and the music will be playing.
3. The patients will pass the ball, and once the music stopped, the person
holding the ball will be the one to answer the question asked by his or her
assigned student nurse.
4. Repeat the steps as desired.
5. Reflect and enjoy!

Objective:

self- identity.
 To make positive changes in mood and in their emotional state.
 To improve socialization.

Learning Objective:

Upon completion of the activity, The clients will pick an animal that exhibits behavioral traits
that resembles their behavior.

 MECHANICS:

Materials:

 1 -2 packages of inexpensive plastic jungle animals

INSTRUCTION:

1. Ask the client to pick an animal they would like to adopt for the positive behavior group
sessions.

2. Once the client has adopted the jungle animal of choice ask them to draw a picture of
that animal.

3. After the animal is drawn on the worksheet below ask the child to answer the questions
on the worksheet either verbally, or by writing it down.

Note: The drawing process will help the child bond and identify with the animal.

Note: It is often helpful to translate the animal in the "Dictionary of Symbols".

This translation can be useful when trying to figure out what the goal of the behavior is.
For instance, a client who chooses a lion will want power. The client who chooses a giraffe
will want attention.

NOSEDIVE

Objectives:

Materials

• Cotton Balls
• Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline)
• 2 Bowls

Instructions

1) Set up the bowls 12′ apart, with the cotton balls placed in 1 bowl.

2) When the clock starts, contestant may dip nose in petroleum jelly and attempt to pick up
cotton balls with the nose.

3) Player may only apply petroleum jelly by dipping nose in petroleum jelly.

4) If player transports more than 1 cotton ball at a time, any cotton balls that are deposited in
the end bowl will not count towards the total.

5) Player must deposit cotton ball into the end bowl directly from the nose without coming into
contact with any other body part or object.

6) To complete the game, player must transport 5 cotton balls from the start bowl to the end
bowl, with all 5 cotton balls in the bowl concurrently with the 60-second time limit.

Bonus Tips

1) Set the bowls and cotton balls on a table. This makes it easier for people to see the game.

2) Have a disposable table cloth on the table to make clean-up a breeze.

3) Pit teams against each other at the same time.

THERAPY NAME: Design a postcard you will never send!

THEME: “Sshhh… It’s secret”

Objectives:

 To help the patients feel a sense of relief and well-being through the recognition and
acknowledgement of subconscious feeling
 To aid the patients to visually express emotions and fears that they were never able to
articulate through conversational means
 To give them some sense control over their feelings
 To promote physiological healing by identifying and working through anger and
resentment issues and other emotional stresses

Learning Objectives:

 Upon completion of the activity, the patients will be able to create a postcard containing
their anger, grudges, and hatred or other desired messages. Then, hang the postcard
into the secret tree.

MECHANICS:

Materials:

 paper (any kind such as construction paper, art paper)


 coloring materials such as crayons
 designing crafts such as stickers
 dry tree twigs

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Prepare the secret tree before the start of activity. Arrange the tree twigs just like
making a Christmas tree.
2. Each patient will be given papers, coloring materials and designing crafts to work on.
3. The patients will be encouraged to make a postcard containing their fears, angers,
desires and messages.
4. The student nurses will assist and monitor the patients.
5. After finishing the postcard, the patients will hang it into the secret tree.

angry, surprise, board and scared

INSTRUCTIONS:

 The student nurse should distribute the band paper with drawing of different types of
