SK Functions and Responsibilities

The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) or youth council is established in each barangay to enhance the development of youth. The SK is composed of the elected youth leaders in the barangay. The SK has the following key functions and responsibilities: 1) Promulgate resolutions to carry out objectives of developing youth and in accordance with applicable law. 2) Initiate programs designed to enhance social, political, economic, cultural, intellectual, moral, spiritual and physical development of youth members. 3) Hold fundraisers whose proceeds are tax-exempt and go toward the SK general fund, as long as the specific purpose of the fundraiser is satisfied first.
