MOP Rehoming V1

This document outlines the steps for rehosting a wireless base station (WBTS) from an old radio network controller (RNC) to a new RNC. It includes pre-check steps like validating input data and licenses, then procedures for loading the WBTS in the new RNC by creating routing identifiers, configuring the network, and provisioning the WBTS plan. Activation steps lock the WBTS in the old RNC, update settings, unlock in the new RNC, and update adjacencies. Post-test checks validate successful rehosting by verifying WBTS, IP addresses, and neighbor definitions match the criteria.

Pre Check

 Check for the mandatory fields in Standard CR Template for if any of the mandatory fields is not
duly filled, CR should not be taken for execution
 Check the data received from authorized RF engineer for correctness & all essential data.
 It is recommended that the old and the new RNC are of the same version and release
 If they are of different versions and releases, it may be that there are differences in
parameters and/or object classes between the two RNC versions.
 Check for all required licenses for Re-hosting site is available and installed.
 Note that if there are additional object classes in the new RNC, those can only be planned
with CM Editor or by importing a plan file.
 Validate the CR input
 Check the existence and usage of given IPNB in the RNC, either by exporting the dump or by
MML Command
 IPNB id given in the CR for WBTS should not be used for any other purpose such as IuPS, IuCS
and IuR in the RNC.
 Check whether the VLAN is created in the RNC for Iub

Procedure

WBTS Loading: -

 Create IP Based Route Identifier List

 Configure IP Based Route Network
 Create IPNB object in OMS for the WBTS
 Select Plan -> New Rehost to create a new rehosting plan.
 Give name for the plan and select the New RNC.
 Select the source RNC
 Select the WBTS which are to be migrated
 Enter the data in the required fields as per the CR input data
 LAC, RAC, Min SCTP Port Nbr, TWAMP-1 Source IP Address, Destination IP Address, Destination
Port, IPNB ID, IPBR ID, NPGEP ID, GB Eth ID. Click on Finish after filling all the entries
 Add ZZ prefix with WCEL
 Provision WBTS creation plan
 Add ZZ prefix with WCEL name and cross check IPNB, SCTP Port no.
WBTS Rehosting Activation
 Verify the working status of all WBTS in old RNC.
 Lock the WBTS in OLD RNC through rehosting tool.
 Change RNC IP address, far end SCTP IP address and NTP server IP address thru rehosting
tool (Entire IP plan need to be changed in some cases)
 Verify the OMU status in new RNC, it should be in enabled state
 Unlock the WBTS in new RNC through rehosting tool
 Run Update Adjacencies plan through rehosting tool
 Verify the working status of all WBTS in new RNC
 Verify the working status of WCEL and IPNB in the new RNC

Post-Test Plan
Verify the working status of all WBTS,WCEL and IPNB in new RNC
Ensure that WBTS in locked in OLD RNC
Verify the IPNB creation parameters as per the CR in RNC
Verify the prefix of the WBTS in both OLD (ZZ prefix)and NEW RNC(no prefix)
Verify all the IPs as per the CR input such as RNC IP address, NTP server IP, Far end SCTP IP,
TWAMP etc.,
Verify the neighbor definition of all WBTS
Perform DT for all the WBTS
Check active alarms on all WBTS
Verify LAC,CI and RAC as per the CR input
