Welcome to 7th Grade Math! The following information is provided so that you and 
your parents know what will be expected of you in this class.  
 
Content :  
This year students will not be given a physical textbook for class, there will be online 
access made available. You will be asked to complete a variety of assignments related 
to the 7th grade Common Core Standards. Topics will include: 
Integers Fractions 
Decimals  Percents  
Advanced Integer Concepts  Expressions and Equations 
Ratios Proportions  
Geometry   Statistics  
The units we will be covering in Advanced Math include: 
Real Numbers & Exponents  Expressions & Equations 
Congruence & Similarity  Functions  
Linear Relationships Pythagorean Theorem 
Volume  Patterns and Statistics  
The 7th grade Common Core Standards will be assessed through warm-up activities, 
class participation, homework, assessments and projects - both independent and 
group.  
Student Expectations: 
1. Come to class prepared! You must bring your iPad (fully charged), a writing 
utensil, and a notebook each day. 
2. Be in your seat, prepared and working when the bell rings.  
3. Use appropriate and respectful language at all times.  
4. Actively listen when ANY adult is speaking. 
5. Follow directions the first time they are given.  
6. Raise your hand to speak, unless we are having a class discussion.  
7. Be respectful of your teacher, your classmates, and your environment.  
 
Additional Help: 
My classroom is open during lunch or recess for you to come in and receive extra help. 
Please schedule time and date in advance with me.  
 
 
   
 

Supplies:  
You will be expected to have the following supplies for math class each day: 
❖ iPad - FULLY CHARGED  
❖ Pen or Pencil 
❖ Notebook  
❖ Headphones  
❖ Homework and worksheets  
 
Consequences if you chose to break a rule: 
1. Verbal warning / conversation 
2. Phone call or E-mail to Parent/guardian  
3. Student may receive an o ce discipline referral (ODR) 
 
Rewards for following the rules (individual or class) 
1. VIP Vouchers 
2. Positive note/phone call home 
3. Special class privileges 
Absences: 
If you are absent for any reason it is your responsibility to check Google Classroom 
and complete assignments due during your absence. If you know ahead of time you 
will be absent(vacation, doctor's appointment, etc.), you must turn in your work before 
leaving. 
 
Homework Policy: 
Homework is to help you practice and improve the skills we are working on in class. 
1. Homework should be turned in on the day it is due. Late work will automatically 
be marked missing until turned in.  
2. Students have until the end of each unit to turn in missing assignments. Once 
the unit is over, all missing assignments will be put in the grade book as a 1 and 
can not be made up.  
3. You must show your work on all in-class work, homework and tests/quizzes. It 
is my job to help you learn and master these concepts. I can’t help you learn 
from your mistakes if you don’t show your work! 
 
Test Corrections:  
The overall goal is to master the skills we are working on for each unit. Therefore, if 
you earn less than 70%, you can complete test corrections. Test corrections must be 
completed within one week after the tests have been handed back. Test corrections 
must be done on a separate sheet of paper and have the correct answer to gain points 
back on the test.  
 
 

Grades: 
You will be graded on a Standards-Based Grading System. Grades will be made up of 
Concept grades and Characteristics of Successful Learner (COSL) Grades. 
Characteristics of Successful Learner grades are made up of Vikings Core Values: Be 
responsible, Be safe, Be productive and Be respectful. Concepts grades consist of 
warm-ups, assessment, and projects which show mastery of each concept.
