I am very honored to speak in front of you today. For those that do not know, I have 3 children, and
Marvin from Grade 7 is my youngest one. If you do the math, I have already attended around 30 family
days, and I’d like to think of myself as a Family Day veteran. Despite being a very seasoned player in trip
to Jerusalem, sack race and longest line, this is the first time I have given a welcome address, so thank
you very much for the opportunity.

In all my years of attending family days, each one has the same purpose and goal. And that is for us,
parents and children, to get to know each other, and to build trust, camaraderie, and bonds with one
another. I believe that this family day, we will get to build bonds with the Lasallian Community, to build
bonds with our fellow parents, and of course, to build bonds with our own families. Kayo nalang bahala
if you want it to be mighty bond, rubber bond or james bond.

Kidding aside, I know we are all excited for today’s games and events, and I can already see that some of
you are really in it to win it! But even though prizes and awards are at stake, we have to remember that
this is not a competition. We should not think that we are playing against each other, but rather we
should be thinking that we are playing alongside each other. Seeing you all right now, I know that
together, we will be able to show sportsmanship and positive attitudes throughout today’s activity.
Putting it in the words of Kris Aquino, “dapat, love love love!”

So thank you once again, and with that, I would like to welcome you all to the Family Day 2019!

Let the games begin!
