The value of being a media and information literacy individual

The purpose of being an Information and Media Literate is to engage


in a digital society where one needs to be able to use, understand, inquire,
create, communicate and think critically. It is important to have the capacity
to effectively access, organize, evaluate, and create messages in a variety
of forms. The motivation of media literate and being informed is to
participate in an advanced society; one should have the capacity to utilize,
comprehend, ask, make, impart and think fundamentally. It is imperative to
have the ability to viably get to, sort out, investigate, assess, and make
messages in an assortment of structures.

Being Media and Information literate develops a person's skills such as


critical thinking and effective use of information and resources. It also
makes someone to actively participate on different topics and issues. It is
very easy nowadays to receive information’s from different kinds of media,
mostly from New Media. We have to make sure that the information we
have is real or true before we disseminate the info, so as to avoid conflicts
because of wrong information’s.

As our technology and media advance, our roles and jobs must advance and
evolve also. The best value is the idea of becoming a source. A source of
information and able to translate the info through the media. Therefore,
every person in the society should try to become literate. If it was not
possible in an early age, a grown-up man can yet learn how to read and
write in his advanced stage of life. Literacy will help him also in gaining
common knowledge in various problems happening in the society.
