English Summer Holidays Homework

1. Write any five functional words with their meanings daily and use
them in sentences of your own. i.e. words related to kitchen,
market, home, school, mall, hospital, buses and railway station, zoo
etc.
2. Read any newspaper in English daily. Paste following in a scrap
book/copy.
• 5 reports
• 5 posters
• 8 Advertisements (e.g. situation vacant, lost and found, missing
and obituary from the classified columns of a newspaper)
3. Prepare for one minute speaking activity
Topics: English language, smart phones, My favourite food,
Recess period, The best advice I ever got, My favourite T-shirt, My
prized possession.
4. Write a daily dairy about the best moment of each day in minimum
50 words.
5. Make beautiful flash cards to advertise a product manufactured by
you. (e.g. biscuits, chocolate, toothpaste, soap, oil, mobile phone
etc.)
6. Collect 10 pictures related to the following lessons (any two per
class) and paste on a scrap book.
10+1: 1. Gender Bias
2. The Portrait of a Lady
3. An Astrologer’s Day
4. The Tiger in the Tunnel
10+2: 1. Hassan’s Attendance Problem
2. The March King
3. The School for Sympathy
4. A Chameleon
7. Learn any poem by heart from the text book.
8. Read any five short stories in English and write one of those in your
own words.
9. Practice speaking relating to the following topics:
1. Myself
2. My family
3. In a class
4. In a school
5. Related to shopping
6. A few polite sentences
10. Spell bee – learn the spellings of difficult words from the first three
chapters of the text book.
