I. INTODUCTION TO EMAIL CLIENT

An email client is a computer program used to

manage user’s email. . It is an application which runs
on personal computer and enables us to send receive
and organize mail. Email servers are based on client-
server architecture, that’s why it is called email
clients. Mail is sent from many clients to central
server, which re-routes the mail to its destination.

II. EMAIL CLIENTS THAT ARE

AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET

Email clients that are available in the market are

Microsoft outlook, Mozilla’s thunderbird, and apple
Inc’s mail, opera mail, Eudora, Pegasus mail.

Here I put up an example how email client works by
configuring opera mail over a pc.

On the left hand side we can see it’s having features V. THE CONCEPT OF IMAP /POP:-
like file sharing, media player, messenger, photo
sharing, web server, fridge etc. And there is a trash POP stands for Post Office Protocol.
folder.
A POP account downloads mail to the computer by
default. Often, when a message is downloaded, it is
deleted from the ISP's mail server. This prevents you
from reading the same messages when you go to a
different computer.

The advantage of the POP is that we have our

messages with us and we can peruse them even while
we are not connected to the Internet, which is
particularly desirable if we use telephone dial-up
access to the Internet.

The disadvantage of using POP is that it is difficult to

keep multiple computers synchronized. Messages we
2. Email clients will also help in activities like shown send from one computer are not copied on the other
in fig, and even we can configure our mails and other computers. If we use a laptop computer while
stuff like file sharing and photo sharing etc. And here traveling, we may want to consider IMAP access.
I have configure my own mail there and the fig below
is showing this: IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol.

When you use an IMAP account we are, in fact,

viewing our e-mail that is stored on the ISP's
computer. There are no copies of the messages stored
on our local computer unless we make a special effort
to copy them there. Some Internet providers do not
support IMAP because with IMAP your messages are
kept on the ISP's computer indefinitely. With IMAP,
our mail remains on the server. Therefore, wherever
we are and whatever our computer use, we always
are looking at the same set of messages. Mail we read
at work will show up marked as read when we view it
from home. Replies we send while on the road will
be there when we get home. The disadvantage, of
course, is that we must have Internet access in order
to view our mail at all, since it is never copied to our
local computer.

VI. HOW TO SETUP A CONNECTION

WITH MICROSOFT OUTLOOK

that the information you have entered is correct
like password and email id and also make sure
that you are connected to the internet.

Here in the screen shot given below there is

an arrow over test account settings, click
over there.
