About this Manual
Emoze revolutionizes mobile messaging and turns your Windows Mobile Smartphone into
a total communication tool. True revolution is about setting new standards and making
them accessible to everyone. With emoze, your mobile device becomes your PC when you
are on the go. Receive email and manage your personal information (PIM) data (contacts,
schedule, tasks, etc.) directly on your mobile device. It’s accessible for all mobile users,
anywhere in the world – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365 days a year.
Quick & Easy Setup
The emoze installation and setup is highly intuitive and takes only a few minutes. You
do not need technical skills or the assistance of an IT manager. No super user or
administration privileges are needed to install emoze on your mobile device. This
technology, a proprietary development of emoze, is patent-pending worldwide.
Emoze is available in two versions. Emoze Personal Edition can be downloaded and
used to send/receive emails and as a PIM. Emoze Pro Edition has a 30 day trial period
after which you may choose to purchase the software via a license fee or continue
with the free version. The emoze Pro has the added functionality of allowing you to
download attachments from most commonly used programs of up to 1MB. In
addition, with the emoze PRO version, you can maintain multiple accounts on a single
device meaning that your office mail, your personal mail and your social media, all on
one device, connect you to your world all the time.
User Friendly
The friendliest interface is the one you already know and use. That is why emoze
leverages existing applications on the mobile device, so you can enjoy the same
convenient look and feel with no wasted time getting adjusted to a new interface.
Emoze stores emails, calendar items, contacts and tasks in your mobile device’s
memory, making them accessible at all times. Emoze is customizable and enables you
to define your own personal preferences via rules.
End-To-End Information Security
The superior emoze security scheme incorporates AES-128 encryption, authentication
and symmetrical keys. These security standards ensure end-to-end security for all
data. At no stage is data ever transferred unencrypted over the network nor is it stored
on a third party server.

Chapter 1: Overview

Introduction
Emoze is the first push email and PIM application that truly bridges the gap between the
professional “Blackberry” user and the mass market. It is the true realization of the mobile
PC vision. With emoze on your Windows Mobile device, you can retrieve your email data
manage your personal information like contacts and calendar anywhere, anytime.
The emoze client works with a variety of email data sources, such as your home (ISP)
account, Gmail, YahooMail and your favorite social media sites like Facebook. Emoze can
also work with your office mail even if it is behind your company firewall.
Once you have installed emoze, data is automatically pushed to your mobile handset or
PDA. There is no need to spend time and money polling your email servers every few
minutes for updates. Emoze sends all changes as they occur. All transmissions are
encrypted and only pushed only when your mobile device is on and ready to receive.
Push email is an "always-on" capability in which new messages are directly and
dynamically transferred (pushed) as they arrive to the mail delivery agent (data source) to
the mail user agent via the emoze application.

Versions
Emoze is available in two versions.
• Emoze Free version
o Receive and send email
o Download attachments up to 100k
o Synchronize PIM
• Emoze Pro (License)
o Receive and send email
o Download larger attachments
o Synchronize PIM
o Multiple accounts
Emoze Pro is available for a 30 day trial period after which you may choose to purchase
the licensed version or continue to use the free version.
Emoze technology guarantees safety and security because all data is pushed directly to
your mobile device only when the device is open to receive the data. Emoze does not use
the "store and forward" technology of other popular mobile email programs. Using emoze
as your mobile email client means that none of your data is ever stored on a 3rd party
server.

1
emoze is for everyone
Aiming to succeed in the Mobile Mail Revolution, emoze has designed its system to
support all cellular and wireless networks, as well as a wide range of mail data sources and
different types of mobile devices.
• Personal – connect to any data source your office, home or Gmail account
• Business – ideal for professionals and small to mid level business
• Enterprise –a technology for major corporations to connect multiple users easily
The emoze service can work behind a corporate firewall or on your home desktop without
any modifications. Emoze's basic architectural component is the Emoze Global Service
Network (EGSN), which can connect to the following data sources
• PC Connector
• OWA
• POP3/IMAP
• Gmail
• Google Apps
• Yahoo Mail
• Hotmail
• Facebook
• And more……….

emoze Global Service Network (EGSN)

Emoze has developed a technology to enable bi-directional synchronization of content
between any data source and a mobile device without the need to duplicate the data on
an intermediate server.

Data Sources
PC Connector
Personal Users can use emoze on just about any data-capable handset, Smartphones using
a Symbian OS, handsets based on Windows Mobile or java for the non-smartphone users.
Emoze offers users several options to connect to a data source. One such possibility is to
connect via the PC Connector. The emoze PC Connector is a small application running in
the background of any windows-based PC. It is optimized to work with Microsoft
Exchange Server or any POP3/IMAP Mail Server account that uses MS Outlook.
The emoze PC Connector can be installed on a corporate or home PC, regardless of the
type of network and security restrictions that are implemented on it. The emoze PC
Connector integrates with the MAPI component of the mail application on the PC. The PC

2
Connector monitors the activities in the mailbox configured as the default profile of the
mail application, and transfers all changes, compressed and encrypted, via the EGSN. Data
received by emoze PC Connector from the EGSN is written into the mailbox through the
MAPI component ensuring that all the changes made on the mobile device are updated in
real-time.

OWA
OWA (Outlook Web Access) is the ability to access your exchange server via a web
interface. Most email programs and many businesses offer their users this useful
functionality, today. OWA is not a not a web mail provider (such as Yahoo or Gmail).
It is a web mail service of Microsoft Exchange Server 5.0 and later. The web interface
of Outlook Web Access resembles the interface in Microsoft Outlook.
OWA is used to access e-mail (including support for S/MIME), calendars, contacts,
tasks, and other mailbox content when access to the Microsoft Outlook desktop
application is unavailable
Microsoft provides Outlook Web Access as part of Exchange Server to allow users to
connect remotely via a web browser. Some of the functionality in Outlook is also
available in this web "look-alike". The most important difference is that Microsoft
Outlook allows users to work with e-mail, calendars, etc., even when a network
connection is unavailable, whereas OWA requires a network connection to function.
OWA can be used from Internet cafes and most important, it can be used by emoze to
provide connectivity to the Web in order to access your email account on your mobile
device.

emoze for Business

The emoze Enterprise Edition is a secure, IT manageable platform for access to email;
calendar, contacts, tasks and notes to meet the needs of major organizations a
network-integrated product with optimal security and manageability

Chapter 7: Synchronization

PIM Synchronization
Once emoze is installed and you have logged on with your user name and password,
emoze synchronizes your email and folder items on your mobile device and maps their
IDs to avoid duplication. Once this initial mapping is complete, the exchange mail server
is able to transmit information to the mobile device. Information is compressed and
encrypted in the exchange mail server before being sent. Emoze expands, decrypts and
parses the data, constructs Symbian items and adds them to your contacts, calendar and
inbox folders depending on the type of data parsed.
Emoze creates a new mailbox, named "emoze”
• Incoming emails are sent to the emoze mailbox, which allows you to easily
distinguish between incoming emails and other items such as transferred files,
SMS, MMS items, etc.
• Inbox displays only HTML e-mail in plain text with some links automatically
added, even if these links were not existing (links on phone number or e-mail
address)
• Allows emoze to add unique features to the mailbox such as the option to change
font size
• Allows you to “download on demand
Contacts synchronization is performed as follows:
• First Sync
o Contacts fields on the mobile device are mapped as follows:
ƒ First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, E-Mail Address and
Contact Note are mapped to the following Gmail fields
respectively: "Name", "Primary email" and "Notes"
ƒ Home and Work fields on the mobile device, are mapped to the
relevant section's fields in Gmail contact folder
ƒ Emoze creates 'Personal' and 'Work', sections (like Gmail)
ƒ Symbian device contact fields not supported in Gmail contacts are
ignored and not synced
o Contacts fields in Gmail contacts are mapped as follows:
ƒ There are a few fields in Gmail contacts that have equivalent field
on the Symbian device and these are mapped to those fields. The
rest of the Gmail fields do not have equivalent fields and will be
mapped to the Notes field on the Symbian device.
ƒ The Name field on Gmail contacts is parsed as follows:
• Two words: The first word mapped to the 'First name'
field on the Symbian device, the second word is mapped to
the 'Last name' field.

41
• Three words: The first word mapped to the 'First name'
field on the Symbian device, the second word is mapped to
the Middle name' field and the third word is mapped to the
'Last name' field
• Updating Contacts
o Changes from mobile device to Gmail contacts:
ƒ Emoze updates all the fields it created during its initial sync with
Gmail Contacts
o Changes from Gmail to mobile device:
ƒ Emoze only syncs changes made to the Name, Primary email and
Notes fields - all other changes are ignored

Power Saving Mode

Once the initial items have been retrieved, the emoze application on your mobile device
remains alert, in a “listening” mode, ready to receive new items. You can personalize the
connection between emoze and the server to optimize battery life.
Your mobile device has power saving options. In the Always On (default) mode, the
mobile device is constantly “listening” to the server. Each time there is an event, such as
an email or personal information update, the server notifies your mobile device and the
information is transferred. The mobile device only communicates if it is notified of new
items. Although there is no data transmission (charges) while emoze is just listening; it
does use battery power.
You are able to set the Push mode to check by time intervals. In this case, emoze stops
listening except for the interval selected. There is no data transmission (charges) nor does
it take as much battery power when emoze is not in the listen mode, therefore, this is
considered a power saving mode.
In both Always On mode or in Periodic mode, if emoze is running, the connection is
reestablished every time there is new data, even if the connection was aborted via the
'Connection Manager'. To stop emoze from re-establishing the connection, you must
signed-out of the emoze service.
Emoze automatically aborts the connection when signing out of the emoze service or when
closing/exiting the emoze application.
If the emoze application is not running, it will automatically launch and connect when the
user attempts to send an email via the emoze mailbox.
If emoze is running, but the user has signed out of the emoze service, and then tries to send
an email using the emoze mailbox, emoze will NOT automatically establish a connection
and sign-in in order to send the email.
Once you have signed in, emoze will re-establish the connection via the connection
manager whenever it needs it even if you aborted the connection. In order to stop emoze
from re-establishing the connection, you must sign-out of the emoze service.

Appendix A: Troubleshooting
• When viewing or composing an email while in landscape mode and selecting Font
size + from the menu, scrolling up/down dynamically stretches and shrinks the
scroll bar. Stretches when scrolling down and shrinks when scrolling back up, to
avoid stepping over the head of the email.
• The To, From, CC, Subject labels, are not resized when changing the font size
while viewing an email.
• The BCC field is not available.
• When switching between portrait and landscape screen refresh is a bit slow.
• Emoze status indicator at the top right corner of the screen overlaps the top email
item in emoze mailbox, if you change the screen mode from portrait to landscape,
while emoze mailbox is open.
• If a mailbox in the messaging application is connected while trying to
install/uninstall emoze, the messaging application will flash rapidly while emoze is
trying to close it. (pressing on the left SK will close it and end the loop)
• When opening a certain message in the emoze mailbox and immediately click on
the LSK – the message view/editor will be closed and wont be opened. User
currently should wait until the message opened completely and than he can send
the LSK. This is a minor issue for the application and will be fixed for next
version.
• Setting up of OWA account is split to 2 steps if application in portrait mode, but it
is split to 4 steps if application in landscape mode.
