5.

0 WORK METHODOLOGY
5.1 Preparation
5.1.1 Safety aspect
a) All workers to be registered at security office each time before start work.
b) Worker goggles must be provided and worn at all time during hacking.
c) The space whereby workers carrying out the hacking works shall be barricaded
and cordon off for safety reasons.
d) Safety officer and WCT site engineers shall ensure irrelevant people are kept
reasonable distance away from the working area as to avoid injury during the
hacking works.
e) Hacking of reinforced concrete opening on lift corewall shall be carried out by
using hydraulic breaker.
f) Regularly clean off the debris from the hacking area by manual wheel barrows
and place at designated dumping areas.

5.1.2 Setting out of reference line


a) Before start the hacking, the reference line must be provided by the main
contractor surveyor All the setting out would be as per the line given main
contractor surveyor.
b) Close coordination with the lift contractor must be carried out to ensure the
hacking work can be carried out without any mistake.
c) Mark the precise hall lantern and call button panel location to be hacked.

5.1.3 Hacking
a) Thickness of openings to be hacked is controlled by wall external face. Submit
Request For Works Inspection (RFWI) c/w approved method statement to request
for hacking.
b) Worker must wear eye protective glass or goggles to protect hacking debris from
striking eyes when hacking.

5.1.4 The hacking shall stop :-


a) if hacking through of wall is reached .
b) If rebar is visible within the 80mm depth opening, it will be removed by cutting
using rebar cutter or angle grinder.

5.1.5 Handing Over


a) Submit RFWI for final inspection of thickness hacked wall before handing over to lift
contractor.
