Secant Pile
Secant Pile
ABSTRACT
Secant Pile walls are formed by constructing intersecting reinforced concrete piles.
The secant piles are reinforced with either steel rebar or steel beams and are
constructed by augering. Primary piles are installed first with secondary piles
constructed in between primary piles once the latter gain sufficient strength. These
are usually installed as retaining structures and support system for deep foundation,
retaining elements and at the same time load bearing walls and deep foundations
for engineering construction. This method also provides a waterproof wall, which
can be build to a considerable depth in the range 30-40m and for various types of
obstruction. This system is applicable where short term water retension is required
and it will be the most cost effective and rapid solution.
