Theory of Thin Plates and Shells

This document provides information about a course on the theory of thin plates and shells. The course is worth 3 credits and covers analytical methods for solving problems in thin plates and shells, as well as numerical techniques. The course is divided into 6 units that cover topics like the displacement field in shell theory, governing equations for plates and shells, and thermal stresses in plates and shells. Students will learn to use analytical and numerical methods to solve complex problems involving thin plates and shells. The exam will consist of 7 questions, with the first being a conceptual question covering the entire syllabus and the remaining questions requiring students to attempt 4 of 6.
