Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
1. Define active recreation.
2. Differentiate indoor from outdoor recreational activities.
3. Explain the importance of recreational activities in enhancing physical fitness.
4. Appreciate the value of recreational activities in oneself.
Subject Matter:
a. Topic: Active Recreation (Indoor and Outdoor Activities)
b. References: Physical Education and Health for Grade 9
c. Materials: DLP, Flashcards, Strips of Paper, Manila Paper, Laptop
Learning Task
a. Review: Activity: "ONE MINUTE TO SAY IT"
1. What is the difference between theater art and opera?
2. What are three (3) different classical theatrical forms during western era?

b. Motivation: Activity: "IN or OUT"( 5 mins.)


1. Group the class into five groups.
2. Show pictures of different indoor and outdoor activities.
3. Using flashcard, let them classify/identify if the activities/games presented below are held
indoor or outdoor.
4. The group who earn highest points will be proclaim as winner

Guided Question:
1. Which among the activities are you familiar with?
2. Have you participated in one or two of the activities?
3. How was your experience?

c. Activity 1: “Fitness and Recreation as ONE” (10 mins.)


With the same group, do the respective task:
Group 1: From the given idea (Recreation) let the students cluster a visual representation
and ask them to write down all the related concepts about given idea.
Group 2: Let the students draw a Venn diagram to identify the similarities and differences of
the main ideas (indoor and outdoor recreational activities)
Groups 3, 4, and 5: Let the students recall the different physical fitness components. Ask
them to discuss the physical fitness components needed in participating in active
recreation.
Group 3- Sports (individual e.g. Badminton, table tennis) (team sports e.g.,
volleyball, basketball)
Group 4- Dance (Zumba Fitness dance)
Group 5- Outdoor activity (hiking, Camping, swimming)
`*Let the students finish the activity given. Assign someone to facilitate the reporting.
They will be evaluated through given rubrics.

2. How will you differentiate indoor from outdoor activities?
3. What is the relevance of recreational activities in making our body physically fit?
4. What fitness components are involved in dance activities? Sports activities? Outdoor
activities?
5. What fitness component is common in the recreational activities?
6. How does active participation in recreational activities contribute to your fitness?

b. Abstraction:
Direction: Using “graffiti wall”, summarize all the concepts you have learned using
the guided questions.
1. How will you differentiate indoor from outdoor activities?
2. Why recreational activities are important in enhancing your physical fitness?
