Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 8

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, 75% of the students will be able to:
a. identify the mean for grouped data;
b. compute the mean for grouped data; and
c. apply real life problems in solving mean for grouped data

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Topic: Measure of Central Tendency for Grouped Data: Mean
Reference: Mathematics Learner’s Module 8 page 527 – 528.
Materials: Visual aid, task card, work sheet, and paper ball

III. PROCEDURE:
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Preparatory Activity

a. Prayer and Greetings

Good morning class Good morning sir
b. Attendance
c. Review
(Randomly call) What was Measure of Variability sir which is
our topic last meeting? standard deviation.
Okay very good!
B. Lesson proper
a. Activity
The class will be
divided into five (5) groups.
The teacher will give a task
card for their activity. The
students will only follow the
instruction provided in the
activity. They only have 7
minutes to finish their activity.

Instruction. Find the frequency

distribution of the scores from
Grade 8 Darwin with their
Summative Test I. Complete the
table and compute the mean with
the given class interval.
 To determine the
frequency, count the
numbers that are
belong to each class
interval.
 To find the class mark,
determine the midpoint
of each class interval.
 To compute the mean,
you should divide the
total frequency by the
total 𝑓𝑋.

So now, let us have an

example.

1. Compute the mean of the mid-year

test scores of the students in Filipino.

Therefore, the mean of the

mid-year test scores of the
students in Filipino is 30.

d. Application
The teacher will provide a
paper ball. In a paper ball,
there are questions indicated
and a task to do by the
students. The students will (The students do their activity)
pass the paper ball throughout
the class while singing Leron

say stop, then the students
who hold the paper ball will
be the one to open it and
answer the problem or task
indicated on the paper ball.
