OUTCOMES-BASED EDUCATION COURSE SYLLABUS IN PHILO 1 (LOGIC and CRITICAL THINKING)

I. COLLEGE

II. BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT MISSION:


The Business and Management Department will produce graduates imbued with knowledge, skills and values such as innovator, research-oriented, technology savvy,
responsive to service, with an entrepreneurial mind and risk-taker business practitioner who can serve their communities responsibly and to contribute for the better
quality of life and to become globally competitive.

The Business and Management Department is committed to train would-be accountants, entrepreneurs, financial managers, public servant, manager and office
personnel that can cater to the manpower and managerial needs of the local, national, and global market. It has the following commitments:
1. Attract brighter students to train for the business profession;
2. Provide the students with foundation and proper preparation for them to be able to cope with problems that they may encounter along the way;
3. Instill among students the awareness of personal responsibility to society as a business worker and would-be entrepreneurs; and
4. Produce graduates with the ability to work effectively, think analytically, and exercise discipline.

VII. COURSE DESCRIPTION : This course presents a concise study on philosophy most particularly in dealing with concepts, propositions, and
syllogism, their inferential relations with regards to valid inference the art or process of reasoning involving, critical thinking. It provides precision in the understanding of
syllogistic forms, syllogistic matters, syllogical constructions, valid syllogical moods, the laws and rules governing syllogism and propositions, categorical syllogism which is
the fundamentals and basis in demonstrating logical construction of valid interference and reasoning.

VIII. COURSE CREDIT/UNIT : Three (3) units

IX. COURSE SUBJECT OUTCOME :

At the end of the semester, the students are expected to:


1. know the level of understanding of logic and its application to develop various problems of other sciences.
2. develop sound techniques, firm, quick and accurate thinking through the use of correct form of reasoning.
3. know the fundamental importance of argumentation in human relations.
