Course goals and objectives

Course goals The principal goal of this course is to enhance:
 Communication competencies and language necessary for using
language in real life situations.
 Learner’s autonomy and self-dependence.
 Learners’ intellectual and mental abilities.
 Learner’s awareness of his/her culture as well as others’
cultures.
 Learner’s values both religious and universal.
Objectives
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

1. Listen and respond to various types of texts for a variety of

purposes.
2. Read and react to a variety of materials written in English.
3. Use written language for a variety of purposes and with a
variety of audiences.
4. Express themselves using the appropriate vocabulary.
5. Gain deeper understanding of their culture and other cultures.
6. Come up with their own projects
7. Search out information from different sources and use it
Description of the course appropriately.

This course is for second year baccalaureate students who have

studied English for at least two years. It will be carried out through
different learning tasks and activities which are meant to develop
learners’ skills and potentials. Also, the course aims to help
learners make connections with other subject areas, and extend
their learning experiences from EFL classroom to the outside
world.

Instructional Activities and Materials

Methods of Instruction:
 Learners are provided with real tasks and activities.
 Learners are asked to solve problems elicited from real situations.
 Learners are asked to create their own projects.
 Learners are encouraged to learn through their mistakes.
 Learners’ social and psychological differences are taken into account, thus they
are taught in different ways.
 Learners work cooperatively through being divided into groups.
 Learners learn via ICT and visual aids.

Course policies
 Students who do not turn in assignments or any other graded work by the due date
will receive (-2pts) on that assignment.
 Students are responsible for all information and assignments missed due to
tardiness or absence.
 Students who are absent more than three class sessions, the school’s principal will
notify their parents.
 Quizzes will be announced a week in advance.
 Cheating (copying sentences, paragraphs or test answers from other students or
from books, handouts or class notes) will result an automatic zero on that quiz, test
or paragraph.

This is tentative schedule and subject to change depending upon the progress of the class.
