The curve 𝑥 2 − 8𝑥 − ℎ + 9 = 0 has two equal roots, Find the value of ℎ.

Solve the quadratic inequality 2𝑥 2 + 7𝑥 − 4 < 0.

Solve the equation 𝑙𝑜𝑔4 5𝑚 − 𝑙𝑜𝑔4 (𝑚 + 3) = 1.

The area of a triangle RST is 30 unit2, with 𝑅(6,2), 𝑆(5,6) and 𝑇(𝑘, −2). Find the value of 𝑘.

Given 𝑚 and 𝑛 are the roots of quadratic equation 𝑥 2 − 7𝑥 + 10 = 0, where 𝑚 > 𝑛.

a) Find the value of 𝑚 and 𝑛


b) Using the value of 𝑚 and 𝑛 in 2(a), form the new quadratic equation which has the roots
of 2𝑚 and 𝑛 − 1

Question 3 (7 marks)

Diagram below shows a triangle OPQ where O is the origin. Point R lies on the straight-line PQ
such that 𝑃𝑅: 𝑅𝑄 = 2: 1.

a) Find the coordinate of R


b) Find the equation of the straight-line that is perpendicular to PQ and passes through point

c) Calculate the area of triangle OPQ
