A Guide to Ceremonial
Revised 1996

PREFACE
CONTENTS This Guide originally arose out of questions put to
General Points 4 visiting Officers about details of Temple layout
Equipment 13 and of movements during the various ceremonies.
A second edition was prepared in 1983. It is hoped
Grade I 19 that this latest revision will be in the hands of all
Other First-Order Grades 23 Fratres, and some few changes have, accordingly,
Adept Grades 25 been made.
Installation of Celebrant 29 As rituals have required to be reprinted an at-

Official Visits and Similar Ceremonial explanation sheets more helpful. There is no wish
Founding a New College to impose a rigid pattern in matters of detail, but
this Guide is intended to assist any Frater who has
to prepare the Temple or to take part in a cere-
mony at short notice to make more sense of the
work both for the Aspirant and for himself. Cele-
brants, Directors of Ceremonies and Secretaries
should find it particularly useful in providing
smooth and dignified ceremonies.
