Chapter 2B Methods of Analysis (DC Circuits)

This document discusses methods of circuit analysis, specifically mesh analysis. It aims to explain mesh analysis technique for solving electric circuit problems. The chapter covers basic concepts of mesh analysis including identifying loops in a circuit, applying Kirchhoff's voltage law (KVL) to each loop, and calculating unknown mesh currents using equations. Mesh analysis assigns a mesh current to each loop in the circuit and finds unknown currents by writing KVL equations. The document provides examples of using mesh analysis on circuits with resistors, current sources, and dependent sources. It also discusses supernodes that combine meshes containing a current source.

Mesh Analysis

 Mesh Analysis assigns UNKNOWN MESH

CURRENTS to all the meshes in the circuit
 Finds the UNKNOWN MESH CURRENTS by
performing KVL around all meshes.
 KVL: Summation of voltage in close loop equal to
zero
 We can find any BRANCH CURRENTS passing
through any element in the circuit after finding the
UNKNOWN MESH CURRENTS .
