Taller de Señales y Sistemas

This document summarizes key points from a signals and systems workshop: 1. It provides instructions to express signals in terms of unit step functions. 2. It discusses determining whether signals are periodic and calculating their fundamental periods. 3. It describes finding the even and odd components of a signal. 4. It evaluates whether a discrete-time system is linear or time-invariant based on its input-output relation.

1. Exprese las siguientes señales en terminos de funciones escalonadas.

𝑓(𝑡) = 𝑓((1𝑡))

(𝑢(𝑡) + 1) + 2𝑢(𝑡) − 𝑢(𝑡 − 2) − 𝑢(𝑡 − 1)

2. Express the sequence shown in terms of unit step.
3. Determine whether or not each of the following signal is periodic. If a signal is
periodic, determine its fundamental period.

𝜋
 𝑥(𝑡) = 𝑐𝑜𝑠 (2𝜋 + 4 )

𝑥(𝑡 + 𝑇) = 𝑥(𝑡)

𝜋 𝜋
𝑐𝑜𝑠 [2(𝑡 + 𝑇) + ] = 𝑐𝑜𝑠 (2𝑡 + )
4 4
𝜋 𝜋
𝑐𝑜𝑠 [2𝑡 + 2𝑇 + ] = 𝑐𝑜𝑠 (2𝑡 + )
4 4
𝜋 𝜋 𝜋
𝑐𝑜𝑠 [2𝑡 + (2𝑇 + )] = 𝑐𝑜𝑠(2𝑡) ∙ 𝑐𝑜𝑠 (2𝑡 + ) − 𝑠𝑒𝑛(2𝑡) ∙ 𝑠𝑒𝑛 (2𝑡 + )
4 4 2

pasa si: 2𝑡 = 𝑚2𝜋

𝑚𝑧𝜋
𝑇= = 𝑇 = 𝑚𝜋. 𝑇=𝜋
𝑧

 𝑥(𝑡) = (𝑐𝑜𝑠(2𝜋𝑡))𝑢(𝑡)
Es periódica T 𝑥(𝑡 + 𝑇) = 𝑥(𝑡)

𝑒 𝑗𝜋𝑡+𝑗𝜋𝑇 = 𝑒 𝑗𝜋𝑡
2, 𝑠𝑖 𝑡 ≥ 0
𝑥(𝑡) = {
0, 𝑠𝑖 𝑡 < 0
𝑒 𝑗𝜋𝑡 ∙ 𝑒 𝑗𝜋𝑇 = 𝑒 𝑗𝜋𝑡

𝑐𝑜𝑠2𝜋𝑡, 𝑠𝑖 𝑡 ≥ 0 𝑒 𝑗𝜋𝑇 = 1
𝑥(𝑡) = {
0, 𝑠𝑖 𝑡 < 0
𝑒 𝑗𝜋𝑇 = 𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑡 + 𝑗𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑡 pero 𝑒 𝑗𝜋𝑇 = 1

𝑥(𝑡) = 𝑒 2𝜋𝑡 𝑒 𝑗𝜋𝑇 = 𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜋𝑇 + 𝑗𝑠𝑒𝑛𝜋𝑇

1 = 𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜋𝑇 + 𝑗𝑠𝑒𝑛𝜋𝑇
T=2
𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜋𝑇 = 1. 𝑠𝑒𝑛𝜋𝑇 = 0

𝑇 = 𝑚2𝜋
4. Determine the even and odd components of the following signal.

𝝅
𝒙[𝒏] = 𝒆𝒋(𝛀𝟎 𝒏+𝟒 )
𝜋
𝑥[𝑛] = 𝑒 𝑗(Ω0 𝑛) ∙ 𝑒 𝑗( 2 )

𝑒 𝑗(Ω0 𝑛) = 𝑐𝑜𝑠(Ω0 𝑛) + 𝑗𝑠𝑒𝑛(Ω0 𝑛)

𝜋 𝜋 𝜋
𝑒 𝑗( 2 ) = 𝑐𝑜𝑠 ( ) + 𝑗𝑠𝑒𝑛 ( ) = 1
2 2

𝑥[𝑛] = 𝑐𝑜𝑠(Ω0 𝑛) + 𝑗𝑠𝑒𝑛(Ω0 𝑛)

= −𝑠𝑒𝑛(Ω0 𝑛) + 𝑐𝑜𝑠(Ω0 𝑛)𝑗

Luego 𝑥0 (𝑡) = −𝑠𝑒𝑛(Ω0 𝑛)

𝑥𝑒 (𝑡) = 𝑐𝑜𝑠(Ω0 𝑛)𝑗

5. Consider a discrete – time system with the input – output relation.

𝒚[𝒏] = 𝑻{𝒙[𝒏]} = 𝒙𝟐 [𝒏]

Determine wether this system is:

a. Linear?

𝑇𝑋1 = 𝑌 𝑇𝑋1 = 𝑌2

𝑌1 = 𝑋1 2 𝑌2 = 𝑋2 2

{𝑋1 + 𝑋2 } = (𝑋1 + 𝑋2 )2 = 𝑋1 2 + 2𝑋1 𝑋 2 + 𝑋2 2 + 𝑋12 + 𝑋2 2 − 𝑌1 + 𝑌2

Por lo tanto no se puede sumar  NO LINEAL

b. Time – Invariant?

𝑌[𝑛] = 𝑇{𝑋[𝑛]} = 𝑋 2 [𝑛] 𝑇{𝑋(𝑛 − 𝑘)} = 𝑌{𝑛 − 𝑘}

Es invariante en el tiempo si:

𝑇{𝑋(𝑛 − 𝑘)} = 𝑌{𝑛 − 𝑘}

𝑇{𝑋(𝑛 − 𝑘)} = 𝑋 2 {𝑛 − 𝑘} SE CUMPLE POR LO TANTO ES

𝑌{𝑛 − 𝑘} = 𝑋 2 {𝑛 − 𝑘} VARIANTE EN EL TIEMPO
