I. Objective:
At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:
A. identify the uses of light.

D. Curriculum Guide: Page 19
E. Materials: pictures of a boy playing badminton, studying, traffic lights, lighthouses and real objects
(flashlight, candle and kerosene lamp).

*Value: realize the importance of light.


III. Procedure:
Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Activity
1. Review
Class I have here a flashlight, candle and
kerosene lamp. What did you notice with this
object? Those are objects that produce light ma’am
Then what do we call this object? Those are the sources of light ma’am
Very good!

2. Motivation
Now look at me class, I will going to close my
eyes. Do you think I can see all of you? No ma’am

Very good!

Now I will ask all of you to close your eyes. What


did you see? Nothing ma’am

Can all of you see me? No ma’am

You can now open your eyes. Can all of you see me
already? Yes ma’am

Why? Because of the light ma’am

Where do the light came from? It came from the sun and fluorescent light ma’am

Very good!

3. Presentation
Class I have here a picture. What can you see on
the picture? It is a boy playing badminton ma’am

Very good!

Why do you think the boy hit the shuttlecock? Because he was able to see the shuttlecock ma’am

Why do you think he was able to see the


shuttlecock? Because of the light ma’am

Where do the light came from? It came from the fluorescent light ma’am

Do you think the boy can still play without the


fluorescent light? No ma’am

Do you think the boy can see anything around him


without light No ma’am

Why? Because he will not able to see something ma’am

Now what can you see in this picture?

If there’s no flashlight or any source of light, do

reading.

* The light is very important because we will not


able to see something without light. It is needed in
order to see things. Is it clear class? Yes ma’am

There are a lot of uses of light and some of these


are the following:

1. The light coming from the sun serve as food for


the plant.

What part of the plant is responsible in absorbing


the nutrients coming from the sunlight? Leaves ma’am
Very good!

The leaves will absorb the nutrients coming from


the sun to be distributed to the other part.

2. Traffic lights help control the flow of traffic on


the roads.

What do you think will happen if there’s no traffic


light? All of the vehicles will be crowded and there will
have a lot of accident happen ma’am

Very good!

3. Lighthouses guide ships in the dark. They also


warn ships of danger.

What do you think will happen if there’s no


lighthouses Ships and travelers might lost because they do not
know where they are for there’s no light and sign.

Very good!

What else? They might be in danger because they won’t able


to see their way.

Very good!

4. Colorful lights are used to decorate or beautify


places.

Can you give some colorful lights that is used for


decoration? Christmas light ma’am

Very good!

5. Overhead or LCD projectors are used to


produce images on the screen.

What I am using right now is called projector, what


can you see on the screen? Picture and words ma’am

You were able to see those images because of the


light coming from the projector.

4. Application
(Picture Match)
I have here a picture of different uses of light what
are you going to do is match the picture from the
description.

The light from the sun help plants make their own
food.

The light from the burning wood helps the


campers see things at night time.

The light from the table lamp helps the girl read
clearly.

The light serves as decoration to the house.

The light use as pointer for presentation.

The light energy is used for treatment like therapy.

According to the activity that you have done,
