1, Pursuant to the Regional Memorandum No. 120, s. 2019 re: Regional Science and
Technolos/ Fair (RSTF) 2019 and Presidential Proclamation No. 23, 2002 declaring
September as the National Science Club Month, the Division will conduct the 2019
Divlsion Science and Technolos/ Fair (Secondary Level) with the themel
"Relnvendng the Future: Advonclng Communltles Through Science, Technolowt qnd
Innovatlons" on October 1, 2019, Tuesday from 8:OO a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Ramon
Magsaysay (Cubao) High School. The conduct of the School and District Science and

a. promote Science and Technologr consciousness with a culture of innovation
among learners;
b. enhance learners' and trainers' scientifiq technological and environmental
literacy through competitions;
c. identiry the best contest entries to represent the Schools Division Omce of

d. promote DepEd core values through competitions.

Head/Coordinator Leader, shall be submitted on september 25, zo19 to Dr. Maria

6. "two (2) hard copies of the Strateglc Interyention Material (StM) entries shall be
submitted with proper indorsement by the Congressional District Leader on
September 24 2018, 1:00pm to 2:59pm. at the SD0 QC Conference room, 3.d Flr SDO
QC. Late submission of contest entries shall not be entertalned. The commlttee
assigned in SIM shall report in the Division Omce on September 24, 2018 at lt00am
to sort-out the contest entries, prepare master lisl and evaluation forms for the judges,
likewise, they are expected to haye the contest entries distributed to the respective
judges on September 25,2018,

the contest categories they are handling.

9, There shall be ovcr-all ranking of the participating schools under their respectivc
Congressional district according to their winnings using the following point system:

omcial announcement is done in the closing ceremonies.

Contest Mechanics

1. Each team shall be composed of three (3) members represented by Grades 7 to 10,
2. This lmprovisation competition anchored on this year's theme, 'Reinventing the
Future: Advancing Commut,ldeJ Thtough Scienc., Tech7,olqy and lDnoyoaiols' shall
focus on the following innovation categories:
a. Climate change
b. Renewable-based EnerS/ Systems and Adaptation
c. Ecological Water and Waste Management
3. Participants in the improvisation competition shall be rated based on t}e following
criterial
a. Creativity and Innovativeness (2596)
- refers to the innovativeness and how the materials were put together to come
up with the improvised model.
b. originality (25%)
- Refers to the new inputs to an existingsimilar model,
c. worlananship (10%)
- Includes the presentation, craftsmanship, output durability, and cleanliness
ofthe workplace.
d. Functionality (300/61
- Refers to the ways the improvised model can be used in field ofthe chosen
contest innovation categories (Climate change, Mitigation and Adaptation
and Ecological waste management).
e, Congress (10 %)
- Refers to how the design was articulated thru an oral defense.
4. Only the materials provided by the organizers shall be used by the team. The use of
additional materials shall be ground for disqualification.
5. The team shall create one (1) model choosing from the following innovation
categories:
a. Climate change
b. Renewable-based Energ/ Systems and Adaptation
c, EcologicalWater and Waste Management
6. The team shall be given two (2) hours to complete the improvised model.
7, No participant shall be given permission to leave the contest venue once the contest
has started,
8. The use ofany electronic gadget is prohibited during the competition
9. There shall be a deduction of five (51 points from tJre total score for untidy work
area.
10. The top three (3) teams shall be declared winners
11. The decision ofthe board ofiudges is final and irrevocable.

The Division Science and Technology Fair (DSTF) 2019 is in line with the
Narional Science and Technology Fair which is an ISEF-Affiliated fair. As such,
the requirements for affiliated fairs should be met and followed as stated in
the ISEF 2020 Rules for Pre-college Science Research: Guidelines for Science
and Engineering Fair 20ZO and required forms which can be downloaded in

the ISEF Forms and other pertinent documents shall be given to the Research Advisers and
their Head Teachers on September 23, 2019 hom 1:00pm to 4:00pm only, The veDue

address the deficiencies in forms and other documents [ifanyJ befote the submission date
for the Division Science and Technolory Fair.
5. The Research Advisers shall prepare three (3) proiect write-ups in HARDCOPY to be

6. NSTF CHECKIIST shall also be prepared and will be attached to the hardcopy of the proiect
write-ups.
