Tips for the trainer:
- Do not give great importance for the writing skills of learners. Keep your focus on
developing the learners’ listening, speaking and reading skills.
- The aim is not to fully cover the whole course books. Rather, Trainers have to achieve the
aims scheduled above and they are free to choose suitable exercises from the student
book/workbook according to the needs and reception of learners.
- Beginners needs lot of repetition and drilling. So, try to repeat the new ideas and
expression as many times as possible.
- It is useful to identify learners with the new expressions. Help them memorize these
expressions (using cards, slides, drilling, etc.) and then teach them how to use them.
- It is very useful for foreign languages learners to make their own dictionaries. Help them
make dictionaries for the expressions they learn during sessions.
- Assign suitable homework to reinforce the information presented during sessions. Start
the next class with revising the homework. (Do not spend more than 10 minutes).
- Use various class activities/ techniques to suit each age category. (Role-play, open
discussion, games, pair work, etc.)
- Trainers can use some other supporting materials to strengthen some weak points as per
learners’ needs. (The alphabet song – spelling worksheets - etc.)
- Good Preparation is the key factor for a successful session.
