Functional spaces
1. Banquet hall- Large hotel room or hall available to public for functions where food may
also be served. Also called banqueting room or function room. it may or may not be
connected to an outdoor space and it may be divisible into smaller sections.
2. Pre- banquet area- a transitional space between the other function areas and the banquet
hall ideal for welcoming guests or hosting public exhibits on a small scale
3. Banquet store- a place for storing extra supplies for events that are to be accommodated in
the hall
4. Conference room- a room provided for singular events such as business
conferences and meetings
5. Business center- a room or a space near the reception (in the entrance lobby
with facilities such as computers and a fax machine, that allows guests to work while they
are staying at the hotel.
6. Toilets.
The functional spaces should occupy the public floors of the hotel, preferably basement,
ground floor and first floor or mezzanine. The banquet may or may not be connected to
conference room.
