RA 9292 and RA 5734 On Its Differences
RA 9292 and RA 5734 On Its Differences

As my partner and I discuss on each republic act, we have noticed their differences, starting
from the name itself that resulted to changes on how they are written. According to what we have
read, RA 5734 is known as the Electronics and Communication Engineering Law of the
Philippines which is why it is written as ECE, but now that the RA 9292 is implemented, which is
known as the Electronics Engineering Law of 2004, it is now EcE when written. We have also
highlighted the major differences in terms of money. Unlike before, the fee for taking exam is only
50 pesos and its registration is only 10 pesos but now it is more expensive, not to mention the
review centers are only located at Manila and Cebu which will add on to the expenses that we
have to consider in the future. I used to save money every time I came home from school without
actually knowing what I was saving for. Before, my mom would ask me "What is this for?" and I
would reply with "This would be for my graduation". But now, I have decided to use it for my
expenses in taking the exam. At least in my own little way, I could help my parents minimize their
burden. For the qualifications in the taking exam, even the law before states that it only allows
those who are at least of 21 years of age to take it, so I didn't think it would be a problem at all
knowing that I was a part of the K to 12 program and I am expected and hope to graduate by the
age of 22. I also couldn't forget the passing rate differences. The 70% passing rate on each
subject has already been implemented before which made EcE unique among all engineering but
the grade required in order to have the opportunity to take the removal exam has been raised
from 50-70% to 60-70%.To be honest, I am so not confident of the 70% passing rate on each
subject but I am praying that the lessons learned from my instructors will be applied so I'll become
an engineer soon. I'm also glad that the results will be posted after 15 days of taking the exam
instead of 90. At least the waiting would not take that long. I know the feeling of waiting could be
so deadly. I could imagine myself praying the rosary everyday. As the technology advances, there
would also be changes on the exam. But I'm praying that despite the changes, I can still be able
to answer and pass it.
To sum it up, reading both the republic acts motivates me to learn more and prepare myself
for the upcoming board exam. I will also consider the expenses that I'm going to face so it won't
be a problem in the future. For now, passing each of my subjects is the least I could do.
