1) The document is a reaction paper about a story of Sanfaina and her siblings who live on a remote island in Zamboanga with their father. They must paddle across the sea daily to reach the main island to attend school or sell fish.
2) The author argues that the father should find work on the main island to make life less difficult for the children. Living remotely, they lack electricity, water and adequate food.
3) However, the author admires Sanfaina's motivation to study despite the daily challenges, recognizing their privilege in only needing a short tricycle ride to school. Sanfaina's story demonstrates that with determination, dreams can be achieved regardless of obstacles.

Reaction Paper on “Paraisong Salat”
There were eleven islands in the far end of Zamboanga, it is called “No Man’s Island”. When Kara David visit the island, she first notices a small house with different artwork in the wall of the house. Some of it tells about freedom, food, and peace, it is made by the eldest bakil child, Sanfaina. She was the oldest among nine of them. They patiently wait for their Dad to come home to ask some pocket money, but instead of money, there Dad give them some fish. Every day, Sanfaina and her siblings paddle across the sea to reach the main island. And when they arrive, they will sell the fish so that they will have some money to go to school. When they dismissed in their class, some of money that is left behind they will buy sugar and coffee. The life in the eleven island is very hard, they have no electricity, water but they still manage to study. And when they do not have a class for that day, Sanfaina and her siblings go to the spring in the other island, but the water here is mossy. When they come home, they take about and they only have two scoops of water. On last day of Kara David, they bring the children in the nearby island, in Sirumon. It was just ten minutes away from their home, but it was their first in the island. “Maybe they realized that the sea, was not a Calvary that they need to cross, the sea is also a blessing”. -Kara David In my opinion, the father of Sanfaina should not have a mindset like that, because he can find another job in the main island. Not like puddling everyday to reach the main island. That’s is my own perspective, because it is too hard for his children to experience that kind of difficulty in their young age. And the water, electricity and food they can get it if they live in the main land. It was not mention if they have a relative in Zamboanga or not, because if they have some relative, they might ask for some help. But I’m so proud of Sanfaina, because she motivated to go to school and study even if they will paddle just to attend a class. I feel guilty because like me, I’m student and it is just one tricycle to reach STI, but sometimes I think not to go to school and I realized that there are some students that will cross a sea just to attend a class. In general, we should be contented on what we have, because some people really need what we have and some people dream of a life that we have. But Sanfaina is one of example that if you really want your dream come true, you will strive for it and go for it. No matter what will happen, with no excuses.
