Materials Testing and Characterization Techniques

This course covers various techniques for characterizing materials, including microstructure analysis using optical microscopy, x-ray diffraction, and electron microscopy. It also addresses chemical analysis techniques like x-ray spectroscopy and thermal analysis methods like differential thermal analysis. Finally, it examines mechanical testing techniques, both static tests like hardness, tensile, and impact tests, as well as dynamic tests such as fatigue and creep testing. The overall objective is for students to gain knowledge of these various characterization techniques.
