Go Devils

Wireline Operations - Slickline Tools

The Hunting Go Devil is designed to cut and retrieve wireline from a stuck
toolstring. It is manufactured from a solid length of bar and has an integral
wireline socket head with a milled slot and guide to accommodate and
retain the wire.

Hunting Go-Devils are provided with locating grooves to accommodate slipover

centralisers (see illustration). Hunting supplies two types of Go Devils, designed
for two different situations:

Angled Bottom Go Devil

In situations where the stuck toolstring’s rope socket is clean, an angled bottom
Go Devil can be deployed, which will cut the wire when it strikes the rope socket.
An angled bottom Go Devil is only used in a well where fluid is present in order
to slow the descent. Where a Go Devil has locating grooves a sized slipover
centraliser can be fitted, to prevent the Go Devil from wedging with the stuck
toolstring or causing tubing damage when it “kicksoff”.

Flat Bottomed Go Devil

In situations where the stuck toolstring’s rope socket is fouled by sand, debris or
wire, a flat bottom Go Devil can be deployed. The flat bottom Go Devil provides
a wireline socket above the obstructing material, so that the cutter will have a
solid base on which to cut the wireline.

When ordering please confirm wire/cable size required.
