How To Use Carrd

Carrds allow you to create a single long webpage separated into sections using #controls. To create a new section, add two #controls with the same name (e.g. #bio). Then add a button with a URL matching the #control name (e.g. #bio) to link between sections. Buttons can also link back to the "home" section using #home as the URL. Content like images and text are added between the #controls. Publishing makes the Carrd publicly viewable on its website.

How to use Carrd:

1: Don’t

In all seriousness, Carrds are easy when you get the hang of it. Here’s a super basic run down that
hopefully someone can find simple. I’m going to skip super simple stuff like GOING TO CARRD’s
WEBSITE but you know. Make an account and save the headache.

I found the Jayne D a good starting point because it has a simple layout already done, kind of like mine.

Despite looking like having multiple pages, Carrds in fact have one super long page separated by a
“control”. As in this instance, the top is my “main page” and the bar below it named “#bio” keeps it and
everything separate.
Working these are fairly simple: For my bio, you click the large “+” on the top right toolbar and click
“#control”. Go ahead and put down two of these. The URL is important for buttons which I’ll get to in a
moment but name the control something relevant, in my case “bio”, the “#” is already included so don’t
add another. Name them both the same thing.

Click the large “+” again, add a button and will ask for a URL. Name it whatever your control is (if your
control is #bio, the button URL MUST be #bio) that you just put down, in my case, #bio. The “name”
option has no relevance to what page it takes the viewer to, name it whatever you want and that will
appear on the button.

Between your two #control bars, add images, texts and anything else you like to the section. This is all
fairly straight forward. With that big “+” button, there are text boxes, images boxes and so on to tinker
with. When you’re done, you’ll probably want a way to go “back” to the main page. Click the large “+”
again, add a button. When you click on the button, it will ask for a URL. Simply adding #home will
automatically redirect the user back to the “main page”.

To add a background, simply click on it and on the left-hand side you’ll get your standard options box to
add an image or use their stock images.

It’s annoying to view but you’ll have to “publish” publicly then come back and “view as website” on the
far right.
Basics!

For a “page” beginning and end (where you want to contain everything) the “#control” MUST be named
the same thing. # is already included. For the button, to go to the “page” name the URL #XYZ (Match
your control group.). To go “home” simply name the URL #home. Button name will be what is
displayed.

Tinker with images, text and other stuff to make your RP Carrd!
