PURPOSE
To minimize hazards and associated risks while carrying out Manual
lifting & handling guidelines for shifting of material at site.

SCOPE
Applicable to Manual lifting & handling of material activity carried out
any where under execution function.

RESPONSIBILTY:
Site in-charge / Site engineer / Safety officer / Workmen
PROCEDURE:
1. If help required ask for considering the distance and the weight.
2. Look for pick-up and delivery area for Tripping hazards.
3. Ensure protection against Sharp corners & wet surfaces.
4. Place feet correctly--one foot close to the side of the object to provide
stability.
5. Put one foot directly behind the object to provide lift or thrust.
6. Keep the object close to your body.
7. Get a correct grip or hold on the object by using a full grip.
8. Keep your back straight.
9. You should tuck in your chin when lifting to insure alignment.
10. Do the actual lifting with support to legs.
11. Just as important as lifting correctly is the ACT OF LOWERING
CORRECTLY.
12. Lower objects in the same manner as you lifted them.
13. Required PPEs to be used
IN CASE OF DEVIATIONS:
Below are the risks that would arise if there are any deviations from the
stated procedure.
 Leg / hand injury
 Back sprain
MITIGATION ACTION IN CASE OF DEVIATION:
Follow First Aid procedures
