They will then engage with a storytelling and movement activity using "We Are Going on A Bear Hunt." Criteria that have been set.
Activity
Instructions o Students will reflect on what we covered last week, I will ask questions based on what we did and bring
out the brainstorm we created as a class for students to refer back to.
o We will be focusing around the use of imagination, we will start our session with the newspaper activity

NEWSPAPER ACTIVITY
o Half the class will sit in a circle with their eyes closed, the other half will stand around the students
holding a piece of newspaper. They will be instructed to follow the teacher (without talking) crunching up
the paper/waving the paper/slow/fast until the teacher stops. The students with eyes closed then have
to explain how they felt during the activity, and their thoughts on what it sounded like.
o Students will then swap over so each child gets a turn at shaking the paper and closing their eyes.
o As a collective each student can share their personal experiences or thoughts that may have been
triggered from this activity.

GOING A BEAR HUNT BOOK

o Reflecting back to last week’s session of movement, we will then carry this through introducing song and
movement as we tell the story We Are Going on A Bear Hunt.
o Students will practice mirroring the teacher. The teacher will start and then students will copy the
teacher’s actions.

MASK MAKING
o Students will then continue making their animal masks, other embellishments will be added such as
feathers, and gems once they have finished colouring it in.
