INTRODUCTION

Community development is a process where community members

come together to take collective action and generate solutions to
common problems. It is a broad concept, applied to the practices of
civic leaders, activists, involved citizens, and professionals to improve
various aspects of communities, typically aiming to build stronger and
more resilient local communities.

Community development is also understood as a professional

discipline, and is defined by the International Association for
Community Development .The global network of community
development practitioners and scholars, as "a practice-based
profession and an academic discipline that promotes participative
democracy, sustainable development, rights, economic opportunity,
equality and social justice, through the organization , education and
empowerment of people within their communities, whether these be of
locality, identity or interest, in urban and rural settings".

Community development seeks to empower individuals and groups of

people with the skills they need to effect change within their
communities. These skills are often created through the formation of
social groups working for a common agenda. Community developers
must understand both how to work with individuals and how to affect
communities' positions within the context of larger social institutions
PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
AND CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM

Children’s appreciation for nature develops at a young age,

so begin environmental education for kids as early as
possible.

I believe, every kid is special, therefore without any

discrimination I was working to impart and solve the
environmental problem and providing focus and attention on
their environmental awareness by providing facility of tuition at
school.

CAUSE;In this era, the natural world is under threat. Different

species of Flora and Fauna are on the verge of extinction, the
air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat –
everything is polluted or has contaminants. By including
Environmental studies as a subject in schools, as well as in
higher education, we can make coming generations more
sensitized and encourage them to find innovative solutions and
methods for the way ahead, in order to protect nature. In order
to take any step towards protecting our environment
surroundings, students need awareness, which can come only
from studying subjects related to our ecosystems. Making sure
that the needs of future generation are met by the earth’s
resources, would a Sustainable form of consumption of those
resources today. At the current rate of consumption, Natural
resources will be depleted far too fast for future generations to
survive. Our irresponsible usage of these resources will leave
our future generations to bear with the consequences of this
exploitation.
OBJECTIVES TO BE ACHIEVED

 To aware the children; The main objective

of community development is working to make the
children aware from various problems in a community
regarding environment. It helps them to provide
knowledge and to know about the main causes affects the
environment.
 To provide quality environmental education; A quality
environmental education is a right and a necessity . When
you supportit , you give a child limitless possibilities and a
community for future stability.
 To foster clear awareness of, and concern about,
economic, social, political, and ecological
interdependence in urban and rural areas;
 To provide every person with opportunities to acquire the
knowledge, values, attitudes, commitment, and skills
needed to protect and improve the environment;
 To create new patterns of behavior of individuals, groups,
and society as a whole towards the environment.
VARIOUS STEPS TAKEN TO ACHIEVE THE OBJECTIVES

Classroom Environment To Inspire for The Best

To bring out the best result from kids,I inspiredthem in such a way that
they could grab the attention and interest to the highest level about
environment . Another way to inspire students to be environmentally
friendly, is to teach them about recycling. Make sure that they have a
recycling bin at home, and teach them which items can be recycled.
Best of Both Sides
When the students are still small, they absolutely love drawing and
being creative. Instead of giving them new blank paper each time,
consider giving them recycled paper, or ask them to draw on both sides
of the page before getting a new one.
Teaching students About Solar Power
Apart from teachingstudents to switch off the lights and plugs for
appliances that they aren’t using; I taught them about natural
resources. Asked them to help hang the washing to dry outside instead
of using the dryer. I even created a narrative around it and introduce
the sun as a superhero. There are so many solar powered rechargeable
products in the market; from cellphone chargers to solar powered
garden lights that come on when the sun goes down.
I inspired students about an eco-friendly lifestyle on a daily basis.
Making these activities fun will help students to establish a good
relationship with the environment – and that’s what it is all about.
Teaching the students not to waste water

Don’t leave the water running when brushing teeth, soaping hands, or
lathering the body during a shower. It’s easy to forget to turn off the tap
while carrying out your daily activities and chores. Sometimes, it’s even
tempting to leave it because it’s more convenient. Stress to junior that
turning the tap off tightly, even for a few short minutes can help to save
a lot of water. Even better, introduce a tumbler of water he can use
to brush his teeth.Finish the water in the cup or water bottle before you
ask for more. Take short showers rather than baths in the tub.Don’t
flush items like tissue, paper towels, plastic wrappers or your pet fish
down the toilet.

Teaching students about climate change

As climate change becomes more palpable, I taught students that some

parts of India will be more affected. Comparing the average
temperature in 2009-18 to the that in 1950-80 reveals that some
pockets have already become much hotter. In parts of Rajasthan,
Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and the North-East, average temperature
over the last decade has risen by nearly 1° C compared to the historical
average in the 1950-80 period. I provided students the information
about the melting of glaciers at an alarming rate due to increase in
temperature which is catastrophe for our planet earth.Rising
temperatures, especially combined with humidity, can even be fatal.

Use of separate dustbins for different waste

Biodegradable materials are composed of waste from living organisms

and the actual plant, animal or other organism when its life endsHuman
and animal waste
Plant products, wood, paper, food waste, leaves, grass
clippingsRemains from the death of living creatures.

Materials having properties that do not breakdown or decay are called

Non-biodegradable.

Examples include:
Glass, Metals, Plastics, Electronic devices, Medical waste etc.

I showed students how to dump nonbiodegradable waste and

biodegradable waste separately.
EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PROJECT

 There has been a lot of change of attitude in students’

approach towards the environmentafter the programme.

 Students got very focused as they take the environment

more seriously and do not pollute it anymore.

 Students got awareness about different

environmentalissuesand how to individually contribute to the
betterment of our surroundings.

 Through thisstudents gainedknowledge about the various

causes of environmental degradation and were able to
decrease the pollution causing agents in there locality.

 It empowered them to take charge of their own surroundings

and providing the conditions forsustaining a clean and
healthy lifestyle on earth.

 It provided among students a sense of place and connection

through community involvement. After the program students
decided to learn more andtake action to improve their
environment.

 Through exposing students to nature and allowing them to

learn and play outside, it fostered sensitivity, appreciation,
and respect for the environment. It combats “nature deficit
disorder”.
CONCLUSION
The need to value environment

Until recently environmental issue has been largely ignored in

conventional economic analysis and decision-making, whose main
objective has generally focused on profit maximization.

Tools for environmental decision-making

The tools available to perform effective decision-making integrating

environmental considerations are examined. It is argued that if the
decision-making process may be a resource demanding (both time and
human resources) and expensive activity, a number of tools exist, that
can reduce the overall costs and which have already been widely used
in decentralized planning.

The integration of environmental concern in decision-making at the

decentralized level is crucial and urgent if the negative trend in the
stock of natural resources is to be reversed.

When students got some awareness about the environment:

Students start living along with the nature.
Students start spending time in planting tress around their living place.
Students reduce to use plastic products.
Students stop generating a lot of solid waste.
Students start using conservative energy sources.
Students will make the 100% use of solar, wind,..etc. all the renewable
energy sources.
Students will start using bicycles instead of motor cycles.
Students will never let any factor in and around their surroundings to
cause pollution to the environment.
I truly believe that if youactuallywant to bring a change, education
is the best way to do it.
