A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the discussion pupils are expected to:

a. Define adverb;

b. Differentiate adverbs of frequency from adverb of manner; and

c. Identify the adverbs of frequency and adverbs of manner used in the sentence.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Using adverbs (adverbs of frequency and adverbs of manner)

References and Pages: English Expressways Lang. V, p. 214-218

Materials: Charts and cartolina

Strategies: Oral recitation and Brainstorming

III. PROCEDURES

a. Preliminary Activities

 Prayer
 Greetings
 Classroom Management
 Checking of attendance

b. Review

The teacher will asks the students.

1. What was our topic last meeting?

c. Motivation

1. Do you love your mother?

2. How will you show your love to your mother?

d. Presentation of the Lesson

 The teacher let the students to read the poem entitled " MOMMY".
 Call one students to read some colored words in the poem.
e. Discussion/Lesson Proper
The teacher will ask the students.
1. What is adverb?
2. Who can give some examples of adverbs?
The teacher will group the students into 4 and in each group will give some

examples and will discuss it.

 Group 1- 2 will discuss how the adverbs use in the poem and will give 5
examples of sentences containing adverbs of frequency.
 Group 3-4 will discuss how the advebs use in the poem and will give 5
examples of sentences containing adverbs of manner.
f. Application

 The teacher will post five sentences containing an advebs and let the
students to identify if it is an adverb of frequency or an adverb or an adverb
of manner.
1. She always atays on my side.
2. Never leaves me.
3. I usually feels better.
4. As she smiles widely at me.
5. I embraced lovingly my beloved mommy.

g. Generalization

The teacher asks the students.


1. What is adverb again?
2. What is adverb of frequency?
3. What is adverb of manner?

IV. EVALUATION

 Directions: Underline the adverb used in each sentence and write AF if the
Adverb ofFrequency and write AM if Adverb of Manner. Write it in a 1/2
crosswise.
1. The girl dances gracefully.
2. She always come to school late.
3. My mom frequently waters the plants.
4. The boy carefully gets the ball.
5. I often eat vegetables.
6. He swims well.
7. He run quickly.
8. James coughed loudly to attract her attention.
9. She spoke softly.
10. He plays the flute beautifully.

V. ASSIGNMENT

Give atleast ten examples of adverbs of frequency and

Adverbs of manner.
