SHORT STORY EXTRACT – FINAL SCRIPT – 30/09/19

(EXT): NARROW SIDE STREET IN TOKYO, HARUJUKU – DAY

The street is packed with a fluorescent glow from the


buzzing shops surrounding the crowded floor below. THE
CAMERA MOVES ON towards the shopping floor which is jam
packed with people walking to and from in every
direction. A strong sense of competition is shown as
THE CAMERA TILTS UP from each advert hanging from the
side of the shops being bigger and brighter than the
next.

It’s a mild day in the district, not cold enough for


winter coats but a typical April morning.

THE CEMAREA PULLS BACK until a mid-shot of a well-dressed


man in his late 20s is shown. AKIO is minding his own
business along the street, grey distressed vans dragging
on the concrete below. In new high-end black jeans and a
red on white supreme hoodie. Akio comes to a halt and THE
CAMERA FOLLOWS HIS EYE MOVEMENT towards a slim girl
walking past him.

Yuko walking past THE CAMREA ZOOMS INTO A CLOSE UP of


Yukos face, big eyes on display, mid length dark brown
hair and a pink shirt.

ESABLISHING SHOT of large apartments and a cacophony of a


busy street, CAMERA PULLS THROUGH THE WINDOW to Akio and
his friend

AKIO

Yesterday I walked past the one hundred percent perfect


girl.

Yeah? Goodlookin?

AKIO
Not really

FRIEND
Your favourite type then?

AKIO
I don’t know, I can’t seem to remember anything about
her?

FRIEND
Strange

AKIO
Yeah, strange

FRIEND
Soooo anyway, what did you do? Talk to her? Follow her?

AKIO
Nah, just passed her in the street
