FRANCE – FACTS
France is located on the European continent. France is bordered by eight countries: Andorra, Belgium,
Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Spain and Switzerland. The Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic
Ocean surround it. The official language is French.
PARIS - LANDMARKS
Paris is the capital of France. It is also called the City of Love because it is a very romantic place.
Paris is one of the most popular touristic destinations in the world. It is the most visited capital very city
because of its famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Cathedral of Notre Dame.
La Tour Eiffel is the most popular monument in Paris. The Eiffel Tower is known everywhere in the world.
It was built for the Paris International Exhibition in 1889 for the celebration of 100years of the French
Revolution.
The Louvre-
The Louvre is the world`s largest museum. It was the former residence of the Kings of France. Today the
Louvre is a museum. It displays over 38,000 pieces of art. The most famous painting is Mona Lisa.
The Cathedral of Notre Dame -
The Paris cathedral of Notre-Dame is a jewel of Gothic architecture. Victor Hugo – the French famous
writer – wrote a book about this cathedral.
FOOD – France is well known for its food. French cooking is the best in the world. French dishes include
delicious desserts like crepes, soufflés, ice cream or croissants and French bread – baguette.
CULTURE - France has a very rich culture, full of important events. The most famous is The French
Revolution. It is also famous for the typical French music – chanson, cheese, wine, fashion and films.
I would recommend visiting Paris because it is a beautiful city, full of monuments and places to go. It has
very delicious food and it is a very romantic place. It is a dream holiday city!
