Plasma gasification is a process that converts waste into syngas and an inert slag using high temperature plasma. It has been demonstrated on over 100 commercial systems worldwide processing various waste streams. The plasma torch heats waste to over 5000°C, fully destroying organic compounds and producing a syngas that can be used to generate electricity. Trials showed the process continuously processed 1 tonne per day of different wastes including hazardous, medical, and municipal solid waste, producing syngas while greatly reducing waste volumes and avoiding harmful emissions. Products from plasma gasification include syngas, electricity, and an inert vitrified slag suitable for construction use.

Potential GHG offset

—  GHG Emissions from Coal

—  2-3 tons CO2 per ton of coal combusted
—  For every ton of MSW processed in a plasma plant, up to
2 tons of CO2 is reduced from the atmosphere.*
—  Reduced methane emissions from not landfilling the wastes
—  Reduced CO2 from reduced coal combustion-to-electricity
