1. Observe and Record:


A. Teachers must allow students to get breakfast from the cafeteria. The students may take
the food out of the cafeteria, but they may not eat it during class time. Teachers, school
police, and monitors are to monitor all students on campus who are waiting for the school
day to begin and for the day to end. During class time, a student is not allowed to talk
while the teacher is talking, especially if the conversation is off task. In order for a
student to talk, the student must raise his/her hand in order to be called upon. If a student
has an issue or concern that needs to be discussed privately, he/she must see the teacher
before or after class to discuss the issue. In the computer lab, students are told to do the
assignment given to them without disturbing or being disruptive to others.

B. In the lunchroom, students must follow the rules told to the by a teacher or staff member.
Students are given the opportunity to choose where they want to go for lunch; the
cafeteria or the gymnasium. Students may not eat in the gymnasium, if they do the
gymnasium will be prohibited from them until they can cooperate. In the library, students
are allowed to talk quietly, only if it is dealing with an assignment. Other than that, the
expectation for students in the library are as followed:
1. Respect the library itself
2. Respect your peers
In the hallway, students are not allowed to be excessively loud. The transition from one class to
another is only 5 minutes each, which means that the transition should be extremely quick.
Students are to be on time for every class unless they have a pass from another staff member.

C. The specialists are the counselors who are listed below:

6. Ms. Felicia Turner
The counselors are to help guide the students and help keep them on track.For example, the
counselors for the 12th grade help the students prep for college meaning they incorporate college
fairs, senior meetings etc. to give the students ahead start in planning what it is that they want to
do in the future. Three of the counselor offices are on the 1st floor of the high school, while the
other 3 are placed on the 2nd floor of the high school.

2. Familiarize yourself with the school district handbook


A. In order for a child to leave school early, the adult who is picking them up must show the
front office manager her/his Identification Card and sign his/her name on the check-out
paper. The office manager then has to ask for the students first and last name and the
grade level they are in, in order to figure out what class that child is in at that certain
time. The office manager then gets in contact with the student’s teacher who then tells the
student that he/she is going home early. The teacher then proceeds to give the student
his/her homework, gives the instructions on how to do it, and tells them that if you are
having an issue with it, he/she may contact him/her on there ccsd email addressed which
is placed on the school’s website.

B. Fire Drill Procedures:


If you discover a fire or see/smell smoke:
1. MOVE students away from the danger. Do not lock the door to the room where the
smoke/fire is located.
2. PULL the nearest fire alarm or CALL the front office.
3. Line up students
4. Take Classroom Evacuation Kit
5. Visually sweep the classroom making sure it is clear
6. Lock the door only if the fire is not in your room
7. EVACUATE to the designated area.
8. Power walk with a sense of urgency.
9. ASSIST any students with special needs.
10. Conduct staff and student accounting

C.Shelter In Place Procedures:


If outdoors
1. REVERSE EVACUATE
If in a portable classroom:
1. You may be instructed to move into the building, if not follow the following instructions:
2. If you are unable to reverse evacuate into the main building you must turn off the HVAC
system and LOCK AND SEAL all exterior opening doors and windows, any broken
windows, and all air vents.
If indoors:
1. LOCK AND SEAL (with plastic and tape) all exterior opening doors and windows and
any broken windows.
2. TAPE inside opening classroom door(s) as an added precaution.
3. CONDUCT Staff and Student Accounting.
4. ENFORCE Student Code of Conduct; remain calm.
5. ALL Student movement outside of your classroom, if necessary, can only occur within a
sealed hallway and will be directed by the administration and emergency responders.
6. Continue instruction as usual.
7. Ensure care for those students with special needs
8. Do not attempt to contact the office unless you have pertinent information regarding the
incident.
9. If needed, contact 911 for life threatening situation occurring in your room.

D. All teachers must have a first aid kit available in the classroom. Universal precautions are to
be followed.
A. If a student is not seriously injured, follow FIRST AID/EMERGENCY Guidelines for
School Personnel(PUB-648).
B. The records regarding student health status and emergency phone numbers are to be kept
current at all times.
C. A student is not to be sent home without school personnel first establishing the
availability of adequate supervision in the home to maintain student safety.
D. Parents/guardians are responsible for the transport and welfare of their children. Unless
otherwise provided in their job description, school personnel regarding first aid and
emergency care.
E. It is the responsibility of the school nurse to provide continuing supervision and
instruction designated school personnel regarding first aid and emergency care.
F. If the student condition warrants, contact the school nurse or the Health Services
Department.

E. While reviewing the teacher handbook, it was interesting to find out the earthquake
procedures. The handbook said that students in wheelchairs should lock wheels and bend
forward in the chair covering their heads. I found this quite interesting because I would have
never thought that would be the way students in wheelchairs go about the earthquake procedures.
I would have thought that the teacher would have to personally help the child out of the
wheelchair and place them underneath a desk, but to know that there is a way in which that
student can do most of it own their own with some assistance is awesome.
3. Schools are considered apart of the community:
A. Extracurricular Activities on school grounds:
1. Sports
2. Clubs
3. Dances
4. Pep Rallies
5. Games
6. Performing Art Shows
7. Music Shows
B. Yes, the sports team uses the Buffalo Wild Wings on Centennial Parkway to help fundraise
there trips and there sports clubs . Aside from that the high school is associated with TRIO which
is given through UNLV, which are training opportunities for students to complete high school,
prepare for college, or pursue doctoral degrees.

C. Parents participate as partners in the schools by volunteering at the school and engaging in
their child’s future. Parents are allowed to volunteer; they can help set up for dances, volunteer
as a chaperone on trips that consist of those. Parent teacher conferences allow the parent to
understand and engage on what is going on in their child’s life. Conferences allows the parents to
know what their child is doing behavioral wise and educational wise. Parents will always be
partners in the schools.
