III. Rationale
The only thing certain in this life is change. Globalization is a trend that emerged
brought by modern age. In this new race, knowledge is the key to victory and those that
stand still will be run down to the ground, certainly there is no breather constant
development to ensure that you can keep up with the pace. But the race to the finish
line starts at such an early age. For an individual to be globally competitive, it is
imperative that he is provided with the necessary know-hows. Accordingly, the English
Department designed a project which aims to help those who lack recognition and
comprehension in reading. Hence the program is known as Project SWORD, the weapon
against ignorance and illiteracy, the program is crafted to determine and solve students’
problem in illiteracy by identifying the method that suits each individual clientele in order
for them to be literate. The problem of illiteracy in English has been aggravating so there
is a need to address the concern as soon as possible for we all believe that reading
enables man to live.
