Learning Action Cell (L.A.C) For The Month of November 2018 Filipino Department

As per advice of our dear principal, Mrs. Anicia E. Monton, the Filipino department conducted our monthly Learning Action Cell
(LAC) meeting. Mrs. Maricel V. Calimlim, OIC-Department Head of Filipino Department, assigned Mr. Marion Kenneth L. Samson
to re-echo and share to his colleague the knowledge he acquired from the recent seminar he attended. The seminar-workshop was
entitled “Inclusive learning for Secondary Schools” that last for 3 days. Our Coordinator announced to all Filipino teachers that the
schedule of the LAC session for November will be on November 28.
The LAC session was held on November 28, 2018 inside the Filipino Department at 11:00 AM. It started with a prayer led by Ms.
Clarice M. Pascua. The session was opened with an opening remark by Mrs. Maricel V. Calimlim. Other teachers namely Ms. Joy
Tumabiao, Mrs. Wena Cabanlong, Mrs. Zhyrine Palado, Mrs. Lorena Balao and Ms. Charmaine De Chavez shared their knowledge
about the LAC session last month. After that, Mr. Samson started to re-echo the topic. He shared that Inclusive Education is part of the
K-12 curriculum and one option for the placement of special education students in Public schools. Inclusive Education values diversity
and the unique contributions each student brings to the classrooms. They participate in student government together. According to
DepEd Order No. 72, S. 2009, students with special needs have recognized the urgency to address the need to receive appropriate
Education with the regular or inclusive classroom setting. Inclusive educational services for all students including those with special
needs. These programs serve all children in the regular classrooms on a full-time basis. If a student requires extra services such as
speech therapy, these services are brought into the classroom. This program always allows the student to remain in the regular education
classroom setting. According to the seminar, there are components of a comprehensive inclusive program for children. Mr. Samson
played a video about the different disabilities’ we encountered. After the video, he gave an activity about the different disabilities. Mrs.
Joy Tumabiao, Mrs. Balao and Mrs. Palado need to read a sentence by covering their left eye. Ms. Pascua, Mrs. Cabanlong, Mrs.
Calimlim and Ms. De Chavez need to pass the message through whispering. The lesson of the two activities are to feel the struggle of
our students with special needs. To conclude the talk, He gave some alternate suggestions that support and enhance assessment of
learning-disabled students. Presentation is a verbal demonstration of skill, knowledge and understanding. Next, a conference is a one
on one between the teacher and the student. The teacher will prompt and cue the student to determine the level of understanding and
knowledge. Observing student in the learning environment can be vehicle for the teacher to change or enhance a specific teaching
strategy. A performance task is learning task that the child can do while the teacher assesses his performance. Lastly, self-assessment
is positive for students to be able to identify their own strengths and weaknesses.
After the talk, teachers gave their own reflection about the topic. They were enlightened about the special needs of every student. The
session concluded by a closing remark from Mrs. Lorena Balao and closing prayer leaded by Mrs. Cabanlong.

The Filipino Teachers together with the OIC Department Head Mrs. Maricel Calimlim organized LAC Sessions
regarding on the submission of Roll Out Management System for the School year 2018-2019 on December 12,
2018 at President Corazon “Cory” C. Aquino National High school.
The session started with a prayer led by Mrs. Zyhrielle Palado, followed by the Opening Remarks from Mrs.
Calimlim. All Filipino teachers were present during the session. The Filipino teachers shared the learnings from
the recent LAC session last November. Afterwards, Mrs. Calimlim started to discuss the different part of the RPMS
that teachers must accomplished. She introduced the Key Result Areas (KRAs), Broad Objectives, (1) objectives
to be met and (2) required competencies based on strategic priorities of the organization. She explained the
importance of the phase and expounded the four components: identifying KRAs and Objectives; identifying
required competencies; identifying performance indicators or measures; and reaching agreement. He also
introduced the new forms that will be utilized. After the discussion, the teachers gave their insights, observation
and reflection about the topic. The session ended through a closing prayer led by Mr. Marion Kenneth L. Samson.
