1. What is History? How will the study of history benefit the generation of today?

History is the branch of knowledge taht basically focus with the narration of various events,
way of living of people, societies, politics or/and government and also the culture and tradition itself, in
addition to that are the ways taht people used to understand. Basically, it is a written document passed
and survived by generations to generations. Also, it serves as a source or guide for all of us about how
things work in the present days.

Based on the said definitions, the study of history benefit today's generation by allowing us as
a person to see ourselves as a part of the living process from the life development and human growth
which has emerged out of the past and will inexorably display itself out beyond our own timeline. We, as
a product of the past, it will help us understand our past and which as a result we allow ourseleves to
understand what we have, how we live and who we are as one o by means of individuality in our present
days and in the future.

2. Why study history? (Personal and National Perspectibe in the forefront.)

There are 3 aphorisms in relation to history that really help me came up what could be the
reasons to study history. First, "History repeats itself." Then, "Past is past." And lastly, "What is done
cannot be undone." Yes, we cannot deny the fact about these aphorisms but disregarding them, studying
successes and failures of the past in history might be able us to learn from all of it. From the success,
which will project how things work right now and serve as a guide for predictions of what will happen in
the future. On the otherside, which we will learn from out mistakes, basically, prevent us to repeat them
in the future and lessen the possible mistakes we will commit again. Aside from that, studying history
enlarges the scope of our knowledge about the cultures, traditions and events happened in the past. By
that, it increases the cross-cultural awareness and understanding. And, we'll find answers to any of our
questions from our time that only history can provide.

3. What does a Historian do?

Generally, historian studies, gathers, collects and compiles informations and facts about
historical events from any medium including books, artifacts and others for them to scrutinize each data
they have. They look for supports and evidences that can validate and authenticate historical documents
as well as the data in it, which is very improtant in understanding history. But definitely, historian do
their job depends on their specialty or specific area of the study where they are experts in there
specialty includes specific time period, place and people, or by type like history of science, math and
even us, men and women.

4. As a student of history, what do you think will be your responsibility?


As a student of history, i will learn by heart the variety, beauty and relevance of studying
History and having the chance to witness again and study how thrilling and exciting our history is. With
that, I have the responsibility and capability to share my knowledge to every person that may help
expands each other's knowledge, awareness and understanding towards our history. As it start within
me, I will also encourage them to preserve, protect, enrich, and be proud of the history we had. It will
allow us to bring back the magneficent beauty of our cultures and traditions and our beloved country
itself. One of the most important things is to bring back our deepest love for our country and us, Filipino
as a nationalistic and patriotic people.

5. How history commonly defined according to Gottschalk?

According to Understanding History: A Primer of Historical Method (1950; 2d ed., 1969), Louis
Reichenthal Gottschalk defined history as a three-dimensional description in which science, arts and
philosophy we're involved. He observed that " as a method," it follow strict rules for discovering
verifiable facts, as exposition and narrative, it requires imagination, literary taste, and critical standards,
as interpretation of life, it also demands the philosopher's insight and judgments. And he came up with
idea that "History consists of description and narration of the past actuality integrated through critical
inquiry for the whole truth. For he want us to have such awareness about the mankind's past by seeking,
being thirsty and hungry for historical knowledge. He believed that the past have a great contribution in
strengthening us for the future.
