Thermal Conductivity. (N.D.) - Retrieved From Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia Website

Thermal conductivity is a material's ability to transmit heat through its thickness, defined as the quantity of heat transmitted through a unit thickness under steady-state conditions due to a unit temperature gradient. Heat always flows from higher to lower temperatures. The rate of heat transfer between two objects is calculated by multiplying the thermal conductivity of the material by the surface area and temperature difference, and dividing by the material's thickness.

Thermal conductivity is the property of a material to conduct heat.

It can be defined as
the quantity of heat transmitted through a unit thickness of a material – in direction normal to a
surface of unit area – due to a unit temperature gradient under steady state conditions. According
to the second law of thermodynamics, heat always flows in the direction of the lower
temperature. The rate of heat transfer to an object is equal to the thermal conductivity of the
material the object is made from, multiplied by the surface area in contact, multiplied by the
difference in temperature between the two objects, divided by the thickness of the material.
