A. Preliminary Activities
1. Drill
Basic division facts. Show the number
wheel to the class. Instruct them to
divide each number by 7 that the
pointer indicates.
56 7 = 8

Great job! “Mathematics Dance Challenge”.

2. Lesson Proper
Present a problem.
Anne bought 120 mangoes in
the market. She placed the mangoes
equally in 2 baskets. How many
mangoes were placed in each
basket?

Ask:
Who bought mangoes? Anne bought mangoes.
How many mangoes did she buy? Anne bought 120 mangoes.
Where did she place the mangoes? She placed the mangoes equally in 2
baskets.
Why do you think Anne bought Anne bought mangoes because it’s healthy
mangoes? and delicious.
Is it good to eat mangoes? Why? Yes, it’s good to eat mangoes because it’s a
fruit.
Very Good! Yes, it’s good to eat mangoes because it’s
Good job! good for the heart.

a. Solve the problem using the

4 steps in problem solving.
 Understand the problem
Where did Anne buy mangoes? Anne bought mangoes in the market.
How many mangoes did she buy? Anne bought 120 mangoes.
How many baskets did she use? She used 2 baskets.
How many mangoes were placed in
each basket?
What process are we going to use? Multiplication
Division
 Make a plan
What operation will solve the Multiplication
problem? Division
 Act out the plan
Ask the pupils to write the number 120 2=n quotient
sentence.

2) 120 Multiply: teacher.)
-12 6 X 2 = 12
0 Write 12 under 12.
Subtract 12 – 12.
Bring down 0.

Step 2 Divide the ones.

0 ones 2 = 0
6 Write 6 in the tens place.
2) 120 Multiply:
-12 0X2=0
00 Write 0 under 0.
0 Subtract 0 - 0 = 0.

 Check or look back
Is the answer correct?
What should be the correct label?
Answer: 60 mangoes were placed
in each basket.

4. Generalization
What should you remember
in dividing 2- to 3- digit numbers
by 1- to 2- digit numbers?

To divide 2- to 3- digit numbers

by 1- to 2- digit numbers:
Step 1
 Take the first number at the
left of the dividend. If the
first digit of the dividend is
less than the divisor, take the
first two digits.
Step 2
 Divide, multiply, subtract,
and bring down.
 Repeat the same procedure up
to the last digit in the dividend.

To check the answer:

 Multiply the quotient by the
divisor.
 The answer is correct if the
product is equal to the dividend.
5. Application
Direction: Find the quotient of the
following number problem in a tree.
Write your answer in the cut-outs
of oranges then place it on the tree.

IV. Evaluation
Individual Activity (10 minutes)
Set standards of doing individual activity.
Direction: Divide each number problem. Show the solution. (Gawin ang mga pagsasanay sa
ibaba. Ipakita ang solusyon.)

1) 375 15= 2) 56 14=

3) 625 25= 4) 81 9=

5.Solve and analyze the word problem. (Sagutin ang suliranin).

There are 72 dalandan in the box, if dalandan distributed equally to 18 pupils, how
many dalandan will each pupil receive?
(May 72 dalandan sa kahon, kung ipapakain ang mga dalandan sa 18 bata na may
magkakaparehong bilang, ilang dalandan ang matatanggap ng bawat bata?)

V. Assignment
Direction: Solve each problem. Show the solution.
1. Allysa has a vegetable garden in their farm. She planted 819 okra seeds in 9 rows.
How many seeds were in each row? (Si Allysa ay may gulayan sa kanilang bukid.
Nagtanim siya ng 819 buto ng okra sa 9 hanay. Ilang buto ang maitatanim niya sa
bawat hanay?)
