The work shall proceed as follows: ‘ 4.1 BASE PREPARATION 444 412 415 42 REINEt Site soil filling ( structure fill) shall be done on areas where paving( concrete or gravel ) is required to attain the design elevation based on IFC drawings. Follow the project procedures on the proper sequence of soil filing by layering for compaction purposes Every layer shall be watered before the roller compactor runs throughout the area to be paved. Portable compactor shall be used on congested areas where the roller compactor cannot be used. When the soil filling is completed, selected fill shall be next. Provide 150mm Compacted ‘selected fill” for the final soil base of the paving Then, lay over the polyethylene sheets. -ORCEMENT. 42.4 422 423 Reinforcement shall be deformed bars or welded steel wire fabric depending on the classification of pavement based on IFC drawing. Install the reinforcement on the prepared base for paving Provide a minimum clear cover of 40 mm from the top of pavement with thickness of 100 mm and 50 mm clear cover for thickness greater than 100 mm.| MS-M-076 5 Revision No 1 Séibia| METHOD STATEMENTFORCONRETE — [Ronsonbae | nisepimce | PAVING ome ar | 4.3 FORMS 4.3.1. The selected fill base under the forms shall be compacted and graded 0 that the forms, when set, are uniformly supported for their entire length and are at the correct elevation 4.3.2 The forms shall be of wood or steel, and shall be cleaned and ailed before use. Bent-twisted or broken forms shall not be used. The forms shall be aligned and securely position in a way that movement is minimized when the concrete is placed and finished. Each form shall be within 6 mm of true alignment 4.3.3. The forms shall remain in place for a minimum of 24 hours. If the ambient temperature is below 10 degree centigrade, after placing the concrete, then the forms shall remain in position until the pavement edges have hardened sufficiently for the forms to be removed without damage to the pavement. 4.4 JOINTS 4.4.1 The joint details shall conform to the project standard drawing and specification, 4.4.2 Expansion joints shall be provided as per IFC drawing and the contraction joint at 5 meters maximum. Expansion joint shall be relocated if there is interfering with the local foundation within the concrete paving. 4.4.3. The joint filler shati be straight and perpendicular to the pavement, 4.4.4 Isolation joints shall be installed around all structures and features, for example foundations, manholes, and ditches that occur in the concrete pavement. 4.4.5 The tops of the expansion joints shall be sealed with sealing materials, Which shall be in accordance with the project specification. Before the sealing material is installed, the joint opening shall be thoroughly cleaned of foreign material. Any excess material spillage on concrete surface shall be removed immediately after the pouring, 4.4.6 Contraction joint shall be made by saw cutting and to be carried out within 12 hours after the concrete pouring.Solis Revision No 1 METHOD STATEMENT FOR CONRETE —[ovsonun | 01 Soptio0e | PAVING laeeeneee eneeicoto aaa Page of 4.5 POURING OF CONCRETE 454 45.2 453 Selected fill base shall be moistened and the polyethylene sheeting shall be laid on top. Atjoints, the edges of the polyethylene sheeting shall be overlapped by 300 mm, Concrete shall be placed carefully to prevent segregation of the aggregate and displacement of the reinforcement or formwork. After spreading, the concrete shall be thoroughly consolidated with the immersion of vibrators Wooden or steel grade stakes shall be driven into the selected fill base at required intervals and at critical elevations, as determined by the contractor. The concrete shall be level to the top of the grade stakes, which shall be the finished paving grade. Grade stakes shall be removed before the concrete starts to set, and any cavities shall be filled with concrete 4.6 FINISHING CONCRETE 46.1 46.2 Hand method shail be used in this work. Machine methods shall only be an alternative if required, Sequence of operation shall be as follows: Strike-off and consolidation Congrete shall be struck-off and screed to the cross-section shown on the design drawings, and to an elevation at which the surface of the pavement shall be to the required grade when consolidated and finished, The strike-off screed shall always be moved in the direction where the work is progressing with a combined longitudinal and transverse shearing motion, maintaining the template in contact with the forms, and keeping a slight excess of material in front of the cutting edge. The concrete shall be tamped with an approved tamping template to compact the concrete thoroughly and eliminate surface voids. The surface shall be screed to the required section Longitudinal Floating The hand-operated float shall not be less than 3.5 m in length and 150 mm in width. It shall be properly stiffened to prevent fiexing and warping. The float shall be worked with a sawing motion while held in a floating position, parallel to the center fine of road for road work, and moving gradually from one side of the pavement to the other. Movement ahead shall be in successive advances of not more than Doe. No MS-M-076Sli sdbia oe. Straight Edging After the excess water has been removed, while the concrete is still plastic, the slab surface shall be tested for trueness with a straight edge, Any depressions shall be immediately filled with freshly mixed concrete, struck-off, consolidated, and refinished. High areas shall be cut down and refinished. Final Finishing All areas shall be finished by brooming as follows: The pavement shall be given a broom finish after floating, and as soon as any surplus water has risen to surface, Brooming shall produce corrugation in the surface to determine the degree of roughness. Corrugation in the surface should be uniform in appearance and not less than 1.5 mm in depth. Surface, when finished, shall be free from rough and porous areas, irregularities and depressions. 4.7 EDGING ( if required ) After final finishing is completed, before concrete has its initial set, the edges of the slab shall be carefully finished with an edger, to the radius required by the design drawings. The pavement edge shall be smooth and true to line. 4.8 CURING , 484 48.2 48.3 48.4 Curing shall commence immediately after the concrete has hardened sufficiently to withstand surface damage. Concrete surfaces including the vertical sides shall be completely covered with curing material. ‘The curing material shall be wet burlap, salt-free moist earth or sand. Burlap, earth or sand shall be continually moistened during the curing period. Burlap that has contained sugar shall not be used, sugar attack concrete surfaces. The moist concrete curing material shall be covered with polyethylene sheet overlapped and sealed to prevent excessive moisture loss. Curing shall continue for at least 7 days at a temperature of 21°C or higher The finished pavement shall be closed to pedestrian traffic for a minimum of 3 days, and to vehicular traffic for a minimum of 14 days.| é : L oc.
