Tentative Topic/S:: Architectural Thesis Synopsis
TENTATIVE TOPIC/S:
Students should outline the nature and typology of the proposed Architectural Thesis,
like Study-based, Design based or Study and Design-based and also mention the
theme base like Heritage and Conservation, Energy efficiency and sustainability, Spatial
politics and manifestation etc.
This should reflect the purpose and function of the study/Design you have taken up.
What is its relevance in the current context and how it will contribute to the realm of
architecture/Urban design or to the users i.e, the public realm. Also mention the related
themes you will be exploring during the course of study/Design.
AIM
Students should briefly mention the aim of the chosen Thesis topic, based on the
expected outcome. For instance, if the chosen topic is Topic no. 2 given above, then
the aim may be, "To complement the tourist facility of Hampi town by analyzing the
need as well as demand for such a facility amidst the existing heritage structures and
propose a suitable design for proposed Tourist Complex".
OR
If the chosen topic is Topic no. 3 given above, then the aim may be, "To study the
concept of Adaptive reuse, shared Heritage and its changing notions in a
cosmopolitan city and to contextualize the design proposal for the selected case."
OBJECTIVES
Students should enlist a set of objectives, which shall help in formulating Scope and
Limitations of the proposed study and to explore relevant themes related to spatial
organization, building science and other social theories
Students should clearly outline the scope of Work as well as limitations in order to define
the depth of study as well as desired outcome and to enable evaluation of students'
accordingly.
Note: The specific design requirements can be finalized during the second stage, ie.
along with the literature review and pilot case studies. However, tentative built up area
can be mentioned so as to visualize the scope and scale for the thesis.
METHODOLOGY
Students should define their Research and Design Methodology, evolve and present
the key milestones or stages of study chronologically, in order to relate the progress of
study as well as to clarify the appropriateness to the evaluator at every stage of the
Thesis.
PROPOSED LOCATION
Students should present details of the proposed location. Students should only choose a
site which physically exists so as to enable evaluation of the context.
CASE STUDIES
Students should enlist the proposed Case Studies by clearly substantiating the
appropriateness of the choice.
CONCLUSION
Students should summarise the overall content of the Synopsis and conclude herein
