Design Goals: Proposed Park Avenue
Design Goals: Proposed Park Avenue
A proposed street park is a open street space design that is typically a low-speed environment that desegregates road users and removes traffic
controls such as traffic lights, excessive signage and road markings. This adaptation of the road then frees up space for non-traffic functions. Includes
researching the utilization and capacity of an open street space with regards to the changing of open desires or public expectation and how this can relate
with various interconnected street design configuration approaches like traffic quieting and self-clarifying streets these approaches have been used to
minimise the influence of motor vehicles since the beginning of the automobile era.
DESIGN GOALS
● Our goal is to plan a shared street park and some stalls and business room in the
street and a Multipurpose area in the center where people will gather if there's an
occasion, street can be close at night that will serves as night market.
● we proposed a shared street park to discourage the vehicles that is in the area.
● we provide something that people can enjoy which is a recreational and some
ecological features.
● We have some planting strips, trees, herbs and bushes and some containers to
Conserve storm water and we added some tables, seats, bike stopping, open workmanship
establishments, and programming to further initiate the road.
DESIGN OBJECTIVES/CONSIDERATIONS
● To reduce the dominance of the motor vehicle by promoting pedestrian and
● cycling activity and utilising the road space as a ‘place’ in addition to its ‘transport’
● To address the need of open municipal park that promotes social development
● Providing trading platform in the area
● And promoting tourism in the area by means of unique and advance design
DESIGN CONCEPT
Shared use streets allow a mix of uses within the right-of-way to safely co-exist--people walking, cycling, and driving. Importantly, people are
comfortable using the space for “staying” activities--sitting, eating, playing, gardening, visiting neighbors and other desired uses by people who live nearby.
Shared use streets are most successful when their use is in synch with the adjacent and nearby land uses. The need of open spaces and lack of municipal
garden lead the way to the development of a Park Avenue that will be primarily used as a trading, play area and a walkway to meet the needs of growing
population in the area. The level of use and activity will be successful if the design of the street serves the nearby commercial area terminal and the
municipal office that should attract them to use the open spaces.
