Level 1: User Information Guide

Level 1 can be a ccessed f rom any location wh ere a stable intern et conn ec tion is
ava ilable. Due to th e large am ount of content th e Level 1 course h olds, users with a
fast intern et conn ec tion will have th e best viewin g experien ce. Users can a ccess th e
course by followin g this link: http: //level1.iwcf.org. Google Chrom e is th e
recomm en ded browser for our Level 1 programm e.

Th ere are two versions of th e Level 1 programm e available to can didates:

Level 1 Programm e
This version is compatible for PC an d laptop devices. To loa d th e course content , a
Flash Player plug-in must be installed on th e device.

Level 1 Programm e HTML5


This version is compatible with m obile an d tablet devices. Can didates wh o would like
to complete th e course on a han dh eld device must enrol in this version to do so.

Please be aware you only have to register for th e Level 1 course on ce. All progress will
be saved as you work through th e course an d can be revisited at any tim e.

Your Level 1 a ccount can also be used to a ccess our oth er f ree, onlin e course -
Well Operations Crew Resource Mana gem ent (WOCRM). WOCRM focuses on th e
n on- technical skills in our in dustr y an d in cludes m odules on th e 6 WOCRM
competen cies outlin ed in IOGP ’s 501 an d 502 repor ts. Login to your a ccount to

A score of 70% or m ore in th e kn owledge ch ecks is required to successfully complete

Drilling Rigs
In this m odule we will look at various types of drillin g rigs an d th eir compon ent par ts.
We'll describe h ow th ey work an d identif y th e equipm ent involved in drillin g a well.

Well Control During Drilling Operations


In this m odule we will look at th e equipm ent used if a primar y barrier fails an d we
experien ce a kick . We’ll defin e som e impor tant terms used in well control an d look at
th e a c tions to be taken an d th e key personn el roles an d responsibilities in th e event of
a kick .

Well Inter vention and Workover


In this m odule we will look at th e compon ents an d fun c tions of a completion or
produc tion strin g an d describe h ow an d why well inter ventions an d workovers are
per form ed.

Pressure Control During Well Inter vention


In this m odule we will defin e som e impor tant terms an d identif y what can go wron g
durin g well inter vention operations. We’ll look at th e first a c tions required an d th e
roles an d responsibilities of key personn el in th e event of a failure of th ese barriers.

Conclusion
In this m odule we will summarise th e key points f rom this programm e an d finish with
a sh or t assessm ent to confirm your learnin g.
