According to Beth Terry (Skyhorse Publishing, 2012) Plastic is prevalent to our live.
Plastic has darker side. Plasic is not biodegradable, therefore it always exists, crowding our
landfills and polluting our oceans. Plastic bags have some unique problems. While their
environmental costs are burdensome for communities and the planet, the cost bags for retailers
is pretty low. Even when disposed of properly , plastic bags are so lightweight and aerodynamic,
they are easily picked up and carried by wind. They can escape from trash bins, recycle bins,
garbage trucks, and landfills, end up littering the landscape. Blowing down the street, flapping
from trees, clogging storm drains (costing municipalities million of dollars in cleanup costs) , and
making their way out to sea, plastic bags have been reffered to as "urban tumbleweeds" for
good reason. And they persist in the environment, causing harm for a very longtime.
According to Jennifer C. Tilos (2018) In dumaguete City has strengthened its "No Plastic
Policy" in its public market and urges private establishments to do the same. City Economic
Enterprises Officer Engr. Jose Ronnie Fortin said that "No Plastic" is in support of the city's
campaign to reduce plastic use and better manage garbage collection and disposal.
"This is also in compliance with the efforts of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo to
implement the anti plastic ordinance as means to best manage the city solid wastes,"said City
Public Information Officer Dems Demicillo. After the public market, the policy will expand to
include the fish terminal and cold storage, slaughterhouse and pasenger terminal, City official
said. Private establishments, residence and other institutionsare enjoined to adopt the same
policy so te regulation on plastics use in the entire city can be adopted and enforced. Ordinance
