Learning Design Sequence


Subject : Science

Chapter 5 : Energy and Chemical Changes

Class : 4C

Number of students : 30 students

Unit 1 Topic 5.1 Physical change and chemical change

Students will be taught to :


Learning Objectives
 To recognize the physical and chemical change
 Define what is physical and chemical change

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to :


Learning Outcomes
 Explain what is physical change and what is chemical change
 State the examples of physical and chemical change
Previous Knowledge They learned matter and substances in their previous chapter

Teaching & Learning Resources Textbook, worksheets, presentation slides, LCD, whiteboard and whiteboard marker.

Induction Stage (5 mins)  Teacher greet the students


 Teacher give a little preview of the subject that she will teach on that day

 Teacher explains to them what is chemical change and physical change


Step 1 (Explore)
 Teacher give some quick quiz for them

Rationale: To see if they able to differentiate between chemical and physical change

 Teacher starts to explain to the them one by one about the chemical and physical change
especially the chemical changes
 Teacher let them to do a bit discussion among themselves
Step 2 (Explain)  Teacher pick random student to present what they understand about chemical and physical
change

Rationale: To check their understanding


Step 3 (Elaborate)  Teacher will give them exercise for them to do at home

Rationale: This is to make them recall what they learn in class

 Teacher asks what did they learn today


Closure  Teacher summarized the topic that they have learned in class
 Teacher also ask them to read the next topic so that they can imagine what their next topic will
be
