The rubric evaluates essays on a 5 point scale in 5 categories: Process and Format, Editing, Organization and Cohesion, Content, and Word Choice. An A essay demonstrates excellent performance in all categories, such as thorough editing and sophisticated writing. A C/D essay shows weaknesses in 2 categories like underdeveloped organization and several minor errors. An F essay lacks basic elements and shows carelessness.
