Grante recorded the sonatas on Bösendorfer pianos in Vienna, organizing them using the catalogue numbers from the Parma collection. The recording has received praise for Grante's colorful playing achieved through fingers alone and for providing a source of discoveries in Scarlatti's works.

s of our time” – Fritz Balwitn, Audiophile Audition
Domenico Scarlatti’s complete keyboard sonatas recorded at the piano by Carlo Grante
for the Music&Arts label. The whole series consists of almost 600 works recorded across 35
CDs in 6 boxes and was recorded on Bösendorfer Imperial and Bösendorfer 280 Vienna
Concert pianos in Vienna. For this complete recording pianist Carlo Grante used the
‘catalogue’ number of each sonata consisting of either city or edition, letters, and
numbers. When sonatas appear in multiple editions or manuscripts, the version appearing
in the Parma collection has been given priority in terms of the order and arrangement of
this catalogue.

“Like Horowitz, Grante is a past master at creating a multicoloured portfolio of legato

shadings through fingers alone, pedalling ever so discreetly” –
Jed Distler, Gramophone 2010
“Grante gives me hope for the future of baroque and early classical
performance...Grante’s collection an almost limitless source of new discoveries and
pleasures” – Rob Haskins, American record Guide 2010

“Grante’s monumental voyage di Grante through Domenico Scarlatti’s complete

keyboard sonatas... profoundly impressive.” Jonathan Woolf, Musicweb-International
2013.
